i voted for pleats. if i'm spending this much on pants, i might as well match up wtth indy-boy.

fyi....i went to my tailor to see what cavalry twill wool trousers would cost and it started at $270 cad......$450 cad for the good stuff. i couldn't justify spending that for one pair of pants here. its better to order these online.

platon, would you say these pants are more raiders or more TOD/LC?

See, the thing is that under different light conditions you see different colors. (the hat on the plane was gray though).

I really can't say if my pants resemble more Raiders Tod or LC.
There are scenes in Raiders that the pants look taupe (at the temple with the idol), there are moments that they look to be dark brown (at the terrace of Sallah's house in Cairo) and light brown (beige) at the scene with the fight with the German mechanic.

My pants look Taupe as you see in the photos, but with flash they look beige. In daylight they look beige with a pink hue and from a distance they look gray.

So I really don't know what to say. If they look like Rotla, Tod, or LC. That's a matter for the buyers of the pants to determine.

I'd like to see them as Raiders though. What they definately are is "Officer Pinks". Grab that movie "Memphis Belle" and watch it, my pants have the same color as theirs.

I know I said I was going to post a review of these pants but whenever I try to start writing I can only come up with one word 'perfection'.

There isn't much that can be said about these pants. Photos speak for themselves. The quality and craftmanship is superb. The price is also very reasonable if you think that you are buying custom made - hand made pants.

As you all know the fabric used is 100% wool cavalry twill from England. The weight of the cloth is a bit heavier than Wested's. The color is a bit lighter, more accurate to officer pinks.

The pants can be offered with on-seam side pockets or sloping pockets (as in the photos).

Unfortunately, for technical reasons the watch pocket is no longer available.

The back pocket flap was designed directly from an enlarged screen cap from Raiders.

The pants can be offered hemmed or not according to your preference. We suggest you buy hemmed and will guide you to provide correct measurements. The hem is about 4-4.5 inches.

Last time I checked you said to order unhemmed.

Unhemmed is still an option.
However, we recommend hemmed for the following simple reasons.

1. It can be done right if you give us the right measurements.
2. The tailors do not waste their fabric
3. You save the money that you will spend if you hem the pants at your local tailor. (They charge 5 euro for that around here).

Hey, why does the shirt have the darker ToD and LC buttons?

My legs are dying to get into those. I hope they look as good on me as they do in the pictures. Cut looks nice too.

Pleats are screen-accurate, yes, but my body isn't screen accurate.

I've looked at countless photos of users in their saggy pleated pants...and went for flat front.

Sorry, I got these a couple weeks ago and forgot to tell everybody! Doh. But I had to send them to the tailor to get them re-hemmed. My inseam measurement was off. They were still wearable, but to have the right break and military hem - have to get them altered.

Quick notes - the fit is great. No, it's not saggy, it's perfect like the vintage photos. Rise is not too long at all. It's like a military cut. Not too much room around the seat and thighs, but otherwise straight-ish all the way down. Not too much tapering, which is a good thing given the heavy fabric.

Note: waist is really spot on. Meaning, it's the EXACT measurement. So, know your waist size, or maybe size up for a bit of room. As comparison, I'm a pretty slim guy, these 31 fits me like an OTR 30. Also, if you have a large butt, you might want to size up, and bring the waist in. Most tailors would tell you that the waist can be altered 2 inches either way (usually), but the seat is the tough job to adjust.

Those tips aside, order em. These are great. Platon is offering a great service to everybody who's looking for a decent priced, great product.

I can't speak for the indy pants, but these officer pinks are really stylin. I'm planning on ordering the indy pants anyways, I'm so pleased with these guys. Officer pinks' for struttin, Indy pants for rumblin.

I should probably take some pictures with me wearing them, but I'm not sure you guys can handle it.

No, really I am glad you like the pants. One of these days I will have a pleatless pair for myself. I think it's great and much better than the pleated (for my taste ofc).

I wanted to give an update to Platon's cavalry twills.

These are awesome. I wore them every other day to work throughout his Northeastern U.S. winter, which has been particularly chilly the past couple months. I would have worn them everyday, but I don't want it to look like a uniform.

They have held up extremely well, and they hold a crease like none other. They came ironed, like true officer pinks, and they still have a sharp crease, months later. I know the indy pleated pants usually drape w/o creases, but these officer pinks look sharp and vintage-accurate.

The fabric is heavy, so the drape is awesome and you don't get wrinkles.

Here's the only bad part:

My tailor screwed up the military hem. While trying to create an inch difference (more like 1/2"), he chopped off the upturned fabric, so instead of 3-4 inches, it's more like 2-2.5 inches. Yes, you guessed it, the hemming threads have caught in the eyelets of my boots and by now, there are large sections of my hem that don't have thread at all.

It's purely the fabric's ability to hold a crease that is keeping the hem from completely falling apart.

So, I have to either figure out a way to hem these pants so that the hemming threads don't get caught in the Aldens, or I need to buy another pair from Platon and threaten my tailor to cut him if he decides to cut my pants.

But it would be worth it, because these are such great pants - my favorite pants. Good work, Platon, these still look and feel brand new, I really think 50 years from now my grandson will be wearing these.

What's sad is that I see a half-dozen pairs of wool pants in my closest that I have not worn once this winter, because I'm getting such great mileage from Platon's officer pinks.

Totally worth the money, and besides, where else can you get flat-front cavalry twill pants?

I am glad you like the pants. It's a moral satisfaction for me.

Just wanted to say that chances are that I move to Switzerland sometime this month for work obligatons and will have to stay there for 3-5 years maybe.

As a result, I will stop being able to offer the pants anymore. Therefore, if you are thinking about ordering, here's the last call to rush your orders.

I have a record label as a hobby (which I will also have to stop) and make the pants to please you.

I used to do some work for UK P&I and Thomas Miller. Small world.

My ex-brother-in-law (the Dane I mentioned elsewhere on the forum) does the same type work, but his is for petro-chemical shipments, and he now owns his own company.

I'm rubbish with names, Elmer sounds familiar, the 3 I remember are Hugo Wynn-Williams, Perigrine Storrs-Fox and Karl Lumbers.
