Hello All,

Got a question. I have a "Raiders" style fedora from AB. The center crease in front is just a tad too severe for my tastes after having had it for about two years now.

First of all, where do I find fotos of the individual center creases from the trilogy?

Second, what is the best way to widen out the crease? Should I just take it in to my local westernwear shop and have 'em apply the steam to it, could I do this myself with the ol' teapot at home, or am I better off sending it back to AB for a pro rework?

Thoughts, suggestions? Never done this, I'm picky as all heck, and don't want to ruin my hat with an amateur job.

on an AB, you should be able to relax the pinch by hand. i'm sure she'll respond in a couple of handlings.

if you want fast results, a light steaming from a kettle will do the trick....just enough to soften the pinch section so that you can get your hand in there to widen it up....TOD or LC style.

Agreed. Pop out the creases, steam the hat, let it dry, and then recrease. If the hat wants to go back to what is has gotten used to, steam the top of the crown again, and while it is still steamy, put your hand inside the crown and spread out the fingers to straighten the sides up, while using you other hand to keep the top crease in place. Hold it this way for a few minutes until the felt cools down so it will keep this shape. You may have to do this several times. It works for me! Fedora
