Got a new Wested!

I have been lurking here ever since I googled Indiana Jones jackets last summer and came up with the Wested website. Of course, I was a little suspicious so I started looking around for someone who had done business with the company and came up with Club Obi-Wan. After reading all the positive reviews, I knew I had to order one. I've been looking for a good Indiana Jones jacket for years. Nothing was right.
I ordered a dark brown goatskin, TOD style, on Sept. 29, using ordering tips I found on this site. I got the order confirmation and settled down to do the "Wested Wait." It took an extra month, Gemma emailed me that they were backed up. No big deal, it was more like summer here in LA. Besides, two months seems no big deal for a custom made jacket.
I got the shipment notification last Monday and watched it make its way across the big pond to the US. I figured it would take a little longer because of the holiday, but it showed up today! Woo-hoo! Even better, it was dropped off at my door, no import charge. I was expecting to pay about $30 for import fees. Cool.
The package was smaller that I expected. It was wrapped in three layers. The outside shipping bag, a Wested bag, a smaller plastic bag and some tissue paper. Very well protected.
The jacket is awesome. Everything I expected it to be. Love the leather, can't believe the lambskin is even softer. Must be like butter! Must refuse ordering a second jacket... mmmm...lambskin!
Ordered a big bottle of Pecard's. Gotta take care of my new baby. Arrival timing couldn't have been better, winter arrived today in LA, at least winter for us! Been wearing it all day with a big, goofy grin on my face. Of course, I had to watch Raiders tonight. Now I just have to avoid getting all of the other parts, the shoes, the hat, the whip......
Here are some pics...

From what we've read in the vendor's section, you may have received one of the last goat skin Wested's in captivity for a while. Way to go!!!
Regard! Michaelson

Nice goat photorog!
Best of luck to you. Hopefully you will be able to stand the pain of waiting better than me.
Photorog, those pictures are great! The jacket looks amazing...I think when ordering my next wested I'll make sure to get a goat. (by the time I can afford a second wested the goat should be back in stock!

Congrats on your new jacket...she looks awesome!
I read that you bought Pecards for your jacket. That's good to see that you're taking the right step towards preserving your new jacket!
I'm not sure which Pecards you purchased, but if you have the standard Pecards that works well on skins such as Cowhide. However, the Pecards Jell/Cream works exceptionally well for the Goatskin leather. I've got a Goatskin Indy jacket as well, and the Jell/Cream Pecards works great to not only preserve the leather, but also to help soften er' up. The Pecards Jell/Cream isn't any less effective than the standard Pecards, it's just produced to suit another leather type.
Am I missing anything there Michaelson, lol?
Enjoy your jacket in great health!
Kindest Regards,
Captain D

You know, I went through the Indygear link on Pecards website. They recommended the Leather Dressing for everything except the lamb so that's what I bought. I did read about the jell/cream in these forums, but didn't see any mention of it on the Pecards website. Is there a link to the jell/cream product? Thanks.

Hi !
I double-checked the specific name of Pecards that I have for my Indy Goatskin jacket and the label says: "Pecards Leather Cream." Unless they changed it recently, it comes in a lil' black tub.
I'm sure you're okay if they gave you the green light to use the "Pecards Dressing." I'm not really an expert on the exact ingredients, but I believe there is a difference over how well the beeswax (which is in Pecards) responds to a variety of leathers.
I could be wrong, but I "think" that the Standard Pecards Leather Dressing contains more beeswax; making the jacket feel a lil' more tacky and squeeky once applied to the jacket. On the other hand, the Pecards Leather Cream works just as effective...only without the beeswax. When you apply the Pecards Cream, it goes on extremely EASY. If I had to describe it, I would say that it feels MORE liquid-like than the standard Pecards Leather Dressing.
Whichever treatment you prefer, that's cool, but if I had to choose which of the two conditioners to use...I would personally opt for the Pecards Cream. I choose the Cream simply because:
1.) It doesn't leave the tacky/squeeky feel to it after being conditioned,
2.) When conditioning a jacket, you want to do a thorough job. After awhile, it can become tedious and time consuming at times. Because the Pecards Dressing is LESS liquid-like, you kinda have to keep working it to cover the area you want to condition. However, the Pecards Cream is MORE liquid-like; which just makes it easier to apply when conditioning a jacket (especially if you want to get the smaller/tighter areas on your jacket).
Whichever way you choose to go, I'm sure you're perfectly fine. For more questions, just let us know or drop on over to the "gear care & distressing" section here at the club. We'll be glad to try and help ya out!
Kindest regards,
Captain D

Just an FYI. I contacted Pecards about the cream/jell to see where it was on their website. I was told they no longer make the cream/jell, but they did have some containers sitting around that I could order. I did, it should be here sometime this week. If you want some cream/jell, you might want to contact them and ask if they have any left.
