I just cross posted this announcement at the Whip Enthusiast Organisation site. I am truly excited with David's new book. This book is absolutely awesome for those that are interested in not only braiding for simple leather projects, but some day for real "AMERICAN" bullwhips. I hope this book inspires a GENERATION of young whipmakers that will not let this craft die.
=======================================
For all those whipmakers, braiders of fine leather, whip enthusisasts who are curious about the craft, etc., I just wanted to let every one know that David Morgan's new book has just been released. The book titled, "Braiding Fine Leather - Techniques of the Australian Whipmakers", has just been released. This is David's second book.
Earlier this February I had a chance to glance at the galley proofs and thought this book was the one that was going to bridge the gaps between Bruce Grant's book, "The Encyclopedia of Rawhide and Leather Braiding", Ron Edwards book, "How to Make Whips" and David's previous work, "Whips and Whipmaking". It did.
This new book contains chapters on:
- Background (Technical aspects of braiding - strength, flexure, size, joins & attachments
- Tools
- Materials
- Leather
Kangaroo, calf or kip sides, precut laces, etc.
- Cutting out Laces
- Lace Preparation
- Round Braiding
- Flat Braiding
- Projects
Key lanyards, Whistle Lanyards, Key Lanyards, Dog Leads, Hat Bands, and Belts
What I like are the missing pieces the above books seem to miss. David provides the background and lays out simple projects to lead a dedicated novice to enter the world of making whips.
Let's just say, I would leave the editoralizing to just this. The book can be ordered from David Morgan at:

Best Regards,
Sergei
