BLOCKING

Post by GCR »

I currently own and wear a 3 + year old Akubra Fed Deluxe that shows some signs of shrinkage when not on my head. I think it'll need a good reblock in the near future, but I don't know where to send it. I recently ordered two new AB's and I'll be looking to have the Akubra blocked as soon as they arrive (in a few months). I understand that Mr. Steve "Fedora" Delk no longer offers his blocking services to non-AB hats. I can see the reasoning for this, and quite frankly, it doesn't bother me. However, where should I send my Akubra for reblocking? Is there any other member or vendor who offers these services? Thanks in advance.

JPDesign is offering this service now. Check the vendor section for details, prices, and address to send your hat to.

Also a gentleman called TheFedoraStore, a member The Fedora lounge, offers the service.

You might also want to think about buying yourself a block. That way you could always do it yourself. Especially if you own more then a few hats that, at some point, are going to need it.

Now this idea I like...but (forgive me for asking a question that may have an obvious answer) where might I find a good Raiders style block for a size 7 3/8???

Richard Lamode has one of my blocks on file for you guys who want your own block. If you are going to use it for keeping a nice shape, order the next size down so it will fit inside the sweat. If you want to do it right, order your normal size. If you are between hat sizes, measure your head, add 1/2 inch to that measurment and give that to him. I think he gets around 135.00 for his blocks. Fedora

Again, forgive me for asking a question that may have an obvious answer, but who is Richard Lamode and how do I contact him?

Thanks, by the way, for the info!
