Preparing to order my First Wested!

Post by Indiana Kev »

Hello all! I am preparing to order my first ever Wested! I am a long time lurker, (it's been almost a year since my last post) but I need to surface and ask for help. I am preparing to order my first ever Wested and needless to say I am excited. I have been searching through posts and educating myself, however I wanted to ask a few questions. My plan is to order a ToD lambskin, x-box stiching, square sliders, last crusade collar, pocket snaps, and the smaller raiders pockets. I plan to order my jacket next week (I need time to think and get help).

My question is which color?? I know that color is a personal choice, but I wanted to get some advice. Has anyone order the authentic lamb and wished they would have ordered the dark or dark and wish for authentic? Anyone ordered lamb and wished for some other such as goat?

Again this is my first Wested and since I will soon graduate with a lot of debt, this will probably be my only Wested for a long, long time. I appreciate any and all help. thanks!

Hi, to start you off here's my Authentic Lamb. It's plenty strong enough for general city life. If you want to take it into the bush you may want to go for the goat.

I think the last pic shows the particular warmth of the authentic brown off well.

In real life the jacket tends to look like all of the above EXCEPT for the outstretched arms one, that colour only seems to come out in flash photos. IMO.

Nice shots Templar, very representative I think.

Kev;
I'd go ahead and ask Peter for samples of the two and you'd know what they are like first hand. ;)

Thanks guys...KT those pics really help.

I did get some samples and they made things harder on me. I originally thought dark brown, but after seeing the authentic in person the decision isn't as easy as I thought it would be.

hi indiana kev,

with wested, you can't go wrong with whatever you buy.....the only difficult part is when to stop buying them

as for me, i went with the authentic brown lamb at first. once i distressed it, i longed for the old shine back and therefore went with a dark brown goat on the next order (to be kept pristine and distressed naturally). plus i wanted something darker to wear as well. as you can see, it is all personal preference.

i went with the authentic brown lamb on my first order primarily because that is what the original raiders jacket was speced out with. so if you're a big indy fan, i would go with that.

Kev,
I just recntly got an authentic brown lambskin. I don't regret the hide or the color, both are great. However, having seen both colors, I think I would have prefered the dark brown. As you say, though, it's a matter of taste. I just happen to prefer darker jackets in general. You can't go wrong though, and now I just have an excuse to buy another Wested!

I've decided to go with the Dark Brown ToD Lamb this time...maybe in a few years I'll be able to order another jacket and then I'll get the Raiders style in authentic brown. Thanks for the help!

I got an authentic goat ToD and I partly wish I got a dark brown. However, the authentic is a great colour and changes drastically depending on lighting. In certain light it looks VERY VERY dark. In other light it look like a nice light brown. I think both colours are great, however i've only see the dark brown in person on a leather sample.
