I've bugged Gemma alot lately so I thought I'd ask you guys before I send her another email.. but what shipper delivers the packages that Wested sends to the U.S. ? Is it UPS, FEDEX, US Mail, etc??

If I remember correctly, Tone is correct -- it leaves the UK with ParcelForce, then gets switched over to the good ole USPS here in the states. Funny thing though, my last jacket was delivered on Sunday...

Any Idea for the time for delivery once it leaves Wested's hands?
See here's my situation.. I have a jacket that Wested just sent out Yesterday, it was sent to my office as requested but I also got word from our company (small business) yesterday that we will be moving very soon, with in the next week/week and a half. I sent Gemma an message to just send it to my billing address at home, but it had already left. So, I think I'll just try to talk to our post man in the next few days and see if I can arrainge for him to be on the look out for it in a week or so.

Doug,
I don't think it'll take that long. Once again, if I'm remembering correctly, my jacket had left the UK either Thursday or Friday, and I got it on Sunday. So I would say within a week from when they sent it...

How does Wested ship to the US?
In a plastic bag, completely unprotected
Seriously. I was shocked when my last Wested arrived that way. No box, nothing. Just a thin, plastic bag from Parcel Force.

Uhm how much protection do you need for a leather jacket?
or correction I mean an indy like jacket
I had no problems with an unprotected plastic bag.

I have two wested jackets and both came in a bag. They were undamaged and came in under three weeks.

Under 3 weeks total? Wow! I wonder how long mine will take.
Do you think they're less busy at this time of year because it's summer here and winter there is almost over, or extra busy? I thought I heard they're doing a movie right now or something. How long do you think the wait would be now?
Also - on their FAQ page it says about 21 days to dispatch and 2 or 3 days for delivery "on a tracked system which will require a signature." Is that not true anymore?
Doug - Maybe your business will have automatic forwarding of mail and deliveries for a little while after the move. Talk to a superior and see what's going on. You might not even have a real problem on your hands!

I think this time of year, Peter is still really busy because he has to spend so much of his time shoveling snow off of Wested's parking lot.
I think they have a faster turn around time if you order in November or December when it starts to warm up over there. 8-[

I guess I was a little confused, because you see my dad's side of the family is from South Africa, and and most of them, except for him, still live there. When it's summer here it's winter there.

Sorry if I gave the wrong impression, guys. I didn't mean it was a bad way to ship, it just surprised me when I saw it. My previous jackets from Wested had come in boxes.

I ordered mine on July 31st and they apparently shipped it on August 22nd. I spoke to Peter when I ordered it and he was telling me how extremely hot it was there and how it's a very old building (I think he said barn) and little to no insulation. I got a message from Gemma on the 23rd saying that the jacket had already been "dispatched" and a quick appology for it taking so long to make (3 wks) 'cause it was a custom jacket.

Okay... I'm sorry I messed up. I was
just asking if you guys thought it was going to be more or less busy there.
BendingOak wrote:sorry. Yes you , indymcfly. Thats not to long ago?
Right, that's only like 7 business days ago.
Doug - sorry I stole your thread...

More busy, because the weather is going to cool soon. Spring and summer are the slowest seasons.

No, I think you're right, aren't the seasons reversed in the eastern and western hemispheres?
Swanley is just east of the Greenwich Meridian.

KT, you are correct. At least there is no time zone difference, since we are both in the northern hemisphere.

I remember when Wested was still using DHL, they used a DHL box (and DHL bag) to ship the jacket in. Since they dropped DHL, they also dropped the box.
Not that big a deal. The plastic is thick enough to withstand light damage.

I only remember one incident where the bag was caught on the conveyor belt or something and the jacket had some minor scratches.

So I should expect maybe 16 or 17 days before shipping? I should have it mid-September, you think?
