Wested 'Raiders' jacket

I love my raiders wested, but as i watch movies and look at pictures, i just cant help but think that my collar is bigger and the corners are more rounded than they look in the movie. anyone else feel that way about their collar?

Absolutely. I've always felt that Wested makes a great Last Crusade looking collar. However, if I want a "Raiders" style jacket, I certainly don't want the Last Crusade collar to go with it (unless I specifically ask for it to be done so). When I see the Flightsuits collar, to me, it's simply identical when I watch "Raiders."

I've seen members here say that "Wested has nailed the 'Raiders' jacket down perfectly by far." I disagree. Even though I love Wested and I feel that they have accomplished a remarkable job in making their jacket more screen-accurate, I believe that they still need to do some work on making their "Raiders" style collar more accurate. Just my 0.2 cents worth...

Funny, I 've seen some photos comparing the FS and the Wested and never noticed any difference in the collar.

I somewhat agree. My Raiders collar on my wested does seem in person to be bigger but I think this leads to a bigger arguement. With all on screen comparisons, this can be a bit dubious. For example, when I was in college in LA I worked on production sets from time to time and when I saw props, set dressing and the such I remember thinking that they looked like junk or kids toys, but seeing them on screen they would look alot different. I have read alot of posts here on cow that try to say what color something was or what it had to be made of just by what they see on screen. Comparing something to what they see on screen can be a good reference point but always needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Lighting, editing, computer enhancing and even what t.v you own can all make something look different then it does in real life. A good example is the temples indy goes to in the jungle and in egypt, you would swear they were made of real stone, but in reality it was nearly all styrofoam. The movies are a good tool but should not be the only one.

I paid a lot of attention to the collar in both Raiders and Crusade when deciding on my Wested. I found that, depending on the scene, there were times when the Raiders collar looked more like the Crusade collar, and vice verse. So I think 1stsargent has it just about right. Reality and on-screen perception are often two different animals. I also think that, in the case of the collar, the way it breaks in and folds on a specific jacket will change how it seems to be shaped and sized. I haven't seen two broken-in Westeds posted here that look the same.

I saw a Star Trek exhibit at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC, a few years ago. It was the first time that I recall seeing some props in person that were actually used in movies or on TV. I had this same feeling that the weapons and tools didn't look real at all in person. They looked like they were made out of cardboard with different color buttons and blocks glued on to it. I thought, who would believe that those things were real? On tv or in the movies, they really did look like real functional items.

Your's may have the same problem as my jacket. I ordered a Raiders Lambskin some time ago, and in it's construction, somebody erred and put an LC collar on it. The collar is about an inch too wide and it's widest point. I have called around, and a leather-smith can shorten the collar, but I haven't bothered to have the alterations performed yet.

i thought so at first, but the pictures of the LC collar arent what my collar looks like. My collar, instead of having pointy edges up front, has rounded off edges and in the films they look a little rounded off but not as much as mine. if i had any idea how to post a picture on here i would show you.
