Herbert Johnson Poet - can I make it smaller?

I have a new HJ Poet which I bought online and despite measuring very carefully before ordering, I'd say the inside circumference has turned out to be about 1/4 inch too big. This has the unfortunate effect of making it fit a shade loose and slide down on top of my ears. Do any of you experts on this forum have any advice please? So far my options seem to be I get fatter head or else stuff the inside liner wth material to bulk it out a bit...

Hope on of you can help with other alternative tips...

Many thanks

Lampshade trick... do a search on that. This would help.

Also stuffing the sweat band with foam will reduce it a bit.

Wear it a few days as is. The sweat soaked sweatband will shrink when it dries. Fedora

Thanks for the tips gentlemen. The lampshade trick sounds like just the job. I'll post the results after I've tried it.

Many thanks.
