From the era, probably nothing to do with the movies, but very interesting nonetheless:

The classic Opinel foldning knife is one of the best cheap pocket-knives out there.
The general design of the knife dates back as far as to the 11'th century - though the simple but effective lock, according to the article incorporated in the design in 1955, is a newer invention (17-18'th c. or so).
There used to be quite a few manufacturers of knives, of this and similar designs, in France and Spain - but now, sadly, only a few remains.
I have owned quite a few Opinel knives through the years - they are cheap, sturdy and able to take an extreamly sharp edge. I personally prefer the non stainless steel ones - due to their ability to take a sharper edge, but whether you prefer stainless or non stainless is entirely up to your personal taste and needs.
The Opinel knife is a timeless classic in line with the Zippo lighter - I can highly reccomend it to anyone needing a good pocket-knife at a reasonable price.
