I've just bought a goatskin FS jacket but the sleeves are just about 1 inch to long for comfort,does anyone know if I can shrink the sleeves myself?,I've read that you can shrink a jacket in a dryer but I only have a washing machine(no dryer),is it possible to shrink the jacket in the washing machine?,I'm sure I read somewhere that someone did this but can't find the link-anyone help?,thanks.

I recomment to let the sleeves shorten by a taylor. I don´t believe that you can shrink the sleeves that much.

You could just let the sleeves soak with water and let them dry on a heater. Thist will shrink the sleeves a bit, but not one inch. And don´t forget that they will shrink in diameter as well.

Any good tailor will undo the seams at the shoulder and move the entire sleeve up for you. Piece of cake.

...thanks Hemingway, I was really looking for a cheaper way(ie nothing! ) and use the tailor as a last resort.

Cheaper could be leave you buying a new jacket. I would go with the taylot like Hem. already stated. It will be cheapper in the long run.

If you go to a dry cleaning shop that does alterations that also does leather I'm sure they'd be able to do the sleeves too. I thought they'd just turn up the hem of the sleeve though?

I'll bet it would cost you about as much as getting trousers hemmed, perhaps a little more. Say between £7 and £15.

Have you already brought it to the tailor? I used to push up the sleeves whenver I wore the jacket. Eventually the jacket will just slowly wrinkle up.
