Simon Martin passed along a couple links to a couple new websites, and I thought you all might find them interesting.

www.bullwhipben.com

This one is Ben Hughes website, it looks great! And one of the pictures I took at the WWAC convention of Ben, Adam, and Chris right after they won their awards is in the photo gallery.

www.australianwhipcracking.org

This site is for the Australian Whipcrackers and Plaiters Association. I believe they help put on a lot of the competitions etc... in Australia.

Perhaps Simon can chime in with a bit more info.

Have a look at the sites, and see Ben Hughes with neatly trimmed facial hair, lol.

Ps-I just noticed on the AWPA site they have a raffle for a pair of Stockwhips!

Aaargh, frames. Nice looking sites, but what I'd like to see is an even better cracking tutorial site than bullwhip.org. Their design looks pretty old and the cracking tutorials could use some illustrations or something. Perhaps this is something that could be implemented with the new IndyGear main site?

Great links Paul, thanks for posting them.

VP, you might want to e-mail that suggestion to the moderator of the Bullwhip FAQ, Andrew Conway. The Vendors list has recently been redone so i wouldn't be surprised if a eventual update is in the works. The information there is still good but more could be added and additional diagrams and/or video would be a nice touch. A basic whip cracking tutorial is also something that is being taking into consideration for a future update of the Indy Gear as well. I am happy to take suggestions of what members would like to see. In the mean time there are many of free video clips on the net of various whip artist and enthusiasts showing the methods to take advantage of to supplement the written information.

http://indygear.com/gear/whip_tutorials.shtml

We have that one, but it still lacks proper information. The only passable page is the overhead crack, but somehow it stills lack something. Maybe some diagrams like you said and more textual information like on bullwhip.org.

Yes a number of competitions including the Australian Championships are run by the AWPA. There is still a lot of competitions that are not run under the AWPA, but eventually they may all be. Here in Tasmania there are 5 whipcracking compeitions everyyear (that I know of) and only the Tasmanian Championships are run under the AWPA, which is happening for the first time this year. Also there are a number of whipcracking associations that are not affiliated with the awpa, but eventually the aim is that they will all be under the AWPA.
If you go to here http://www.australianwhipcracking.org/Full_News.htm

and scroll down you can purchase 5 raffle tickets for $10 for a matched pair of competition whips that I have made. All the money raised will go to the association. It would be great if a few could do it.

Kind Regards
