I need tips on the application of Leather Lotion (Wilsons)

Hi guys,
I'm about to buy some of this:

to put on my grail diary to look after it and I'm wondering if this is still the best stuff as I haven't been around in awhile due to my degree (last week I graduated with a 2.1 with Honours!) and how to apply this stuff as I have never done it before and a grail diary is much smaller than a jacket. It's nice to be around again!
