Since about 13 years i go in Tunisia each year, i had the oportunity to see the Raiders location sets ( and star wars ) and met Tunisian people who worked on the movie as extra or crew ( i even met the son of the man who rent the white horse )... a very good friend ( Habib )introduce me to an old man who have a small shop in a small village called Nefta. ( where some scenes were shot ). he has some old tunic for sale that he made years ago all with the same pattern....of course i bought one from him !

is this tunic remember you something ?? 26 years old ?? who knows....

Hey Doc,

That looks like the real deal to me. You could end up being our tunic connection. That guy could sell a ton of those here on COW.

Yeah, I know a lot of people have had trouble coming up with accurate Marion costume pieces. If you ever found that white and red shirt over there, it would be a miracle.

Posted: Fri Jun 30, 2006 1:06 pm
by doc riviere
No ! there is no instruction ( but it's easy ) !! i even dont know if the man knows to write. it's from an old tunisian man from a small shop in a small village in a far country ! this tunic is from an old stock

Out of nosiness, how much would one of those cost?

This is fantastic, I'll do some comparation with the movie shots!

Could you write more info how to find this shop in that city in case someone is going to Tunisia? It would be great for the archives of Indygear.com

What about the sash? Or would it be simpler just to go to a fabric store and buy some white linen? :junior: -IJ

Ok, when i know i go back i will let you know. of course i cant bring back a tunic for every one, it will depend of the size of my bag and the stock there  but i think 6 or 7.
all the tunics are not the same color !
i choose mine the closiest as i can see in the movie, but there is all white, grey and sand if i remember

Posted: Thu Jul 06, 2006 1:01 pm
by Mulceber
Okay, well please just try to get the closest color you can, and don't forget to give us instructions for measurments and payment before you leave. :junior: -IJ

Posted: Thu Jul 06, 2006 1:18 pm
by doc riviere
No problem ! i need your shirt size M, L or XL and your height size.

for the payment, you will pay half of the price and the other half when i'll come back with the tunics. i dont want to get all the money and then have problem in tunisia, not enough tunic available, no more stock or else !

i will give you the curent price in USD before to leave. you can make the turban yourself if you want, just find a material fabric.

should i post a topic for the tunic in the "for sale or wanted" column ??

Posted: Thu Jul 06, 2006 1:47 pm
by Mulceber
sure, the for sale column does seem like the best place.

By the way, my shirt size is Large in U.S. sizes. not sure what it is in European sizes though. I'm 73 inches tall, which I think is 1.85 meters. :junior: -IJ

Well, i have a lot of asking for the tunic and i cant take more for now !!

you have to understand that it is possible i cant found all the same color for each of you ! so thanks to tell me if it's not a problem for you and you dont care about it ( possibly to dry it i think )

Posted: Thu Jul 06, 2006 4:14 pm
by Mulceber
Like I said, it's not a problem. Just try to get it as close as you can. Thanks, and sorry if I provided my measurments a bit early. :junior: -IJ
