Red Wings price and availability

Post by Erri »

This is an email I got from a guy of RW shoes. I was asking him about that 8249 model...
Nobody has this style on stock and we have to get it from the USA.
The retail price will be 249,- Euros incl. shipping costs to Italy.
The only thing we need to know is your size.
I have copied Kami Hashemi of the Red Wing Shoe Store in Germany on this
e-mail.
He will be able to order this style in the USA.

Kami: please read e-mail conversation regarding style 8249.

Kind regards,
Don
249 euro? about $310 shipped to Italy???  I can buy new Aldens from San Francisco for 20 bucks more (considering that postage for aldens is $40 to Italy)!

Red Wing doesn't sell there products as Indy-style boots, but as high quality work boots and if they're as good/bad as the Aldens why shouldn't they cost the same(though Aldens REALLY are to expensive :? )?

Erri- I might be able to get you or anybody else Redwings from Kentucky for around 130 USD, not shipped. If you are interested, PM me. I have no idea if they still have the style, but a local store used to have the ankle-boot height Redwings.

Good luck going cheap!

Thank you very much Kodiak, I'm still not sure about the redwings but I'll keep your name in mind if I will want to buy them. I still have to call the alden shop to know the price of them in Italy.
Thank you anyway

Indiana_Tone wrote:Kodiak, we'd be looking specifically for model 8249 Redwing. Curious if the Kentucky store carries (or can get) that model specifically. Have you seen that on the shelf? :-k
I wondered the same, and that's why I said that I thought I could get it. I'll try to call them tomorrow. The thing is, I have eight-inch boots that look remarkably like Aldens except for the lacking of the toe stitching. The last time I was at the store where I bought these, I noticed that they had one pair of six-inch boots on display. I said "hmm, gearheads might like these" but I didn't check the display. I will diligently look for that model, but if they don't have it and have another Redwing close to it, I will get the model number and let you guys know?

Now I must ask: are you interested too Tone?

Robert said these were the model used for running sequences (and/or the 404 model). It would be intersting to know if this model existed that long ago though.

I have a pair of the 8249 that I picked up on Ebay. I also have a pair of the Carolina Huskers and THEY are much closer to the Aldens than the Redwings.
The seam on the Redwings toe is very pronounced.

The Huskers are priced around 48 USD.

Tone and Erri- Just to clarify, the boots I saw did not have a moc-toe like Aldens. They were another pair that have the correct heel/sole, but did not have the stitching. I will check for the model with the stitching, but I don't think they have that one. I was very busy yesterday, but I will try to contact the store today.
