Lots and lots of Wested questions

I have a close enough jacket, but I've decided that at some point in time soon I'm going to upgrade (maybe I'll wait till Christmas and get my parents to pay for it ). I want a Wested, but I don't know what leather I want: cowhide, goatskin or lambskin. I'd also like to know how many pockets there are and where they are at. I think I'm sold on the Raiders version, but I might get a TOD just because of the extra length. And does anybody know what version of jacket was used as the model in Emperor's Tomb?

Thanks for your continued help,

The Indy jacket has 5 pockets. Two cargo pockets, two hand warmer pockets and an inside chest pocket.

Personally, I really like goatskin. It tough, water repellent, yet it still fairly light and drapes well. I've never hat a cow or lamb jacket from Wested, but I have had cow and lamb jackets before. Cow is tough and heavy. It also doesn't drape too well. I liked the lamb jacket I had pretty well. Although not as tough as goat or cow it isn't silk either. Heck, mine survived highschool! IMHO, if I could only have one jacket it would be goat.

The Raiders vs ToD debate. I've been there too. I Honestly don't know what to tell you on this one. My jacket is a ToD and it feels a bit long. However, it is also a size too big so that may factor in to my opinion.

Good luck my friend! :D

One inside pocket, unless you pay extra and get a second optional inside pocket.

Thanks. But is there any other differences between ToD and Raiders that they don't mention straightforward at the site? And is straightforward even a word :-k

Thanks again,

No, the only difference is that the ToD jacket is 1" longer.

If you don't know what leather to get, get lamb. Lamb is tough enough for daily use, looks great, drapes great, feels great, distresses great. Lamb is authentic, incredibly light and soft. Go for the lamb.

This may help: I ordered my latest jacket as a dark brown goatskin ToD. But since I specified the 80's fit & what length to make the back, it's more of a Raiders look in length. I also think that the ToD jacket (in the film) appears to not have the side straps pulled as tightly as they were in Raiders -- it seems to hang more straight down as opposed to the snugness at the waist of the Raiders jacket. So in my personal experience, the 2 styles are exactly the same except for the back length...and possibly how tight you pull your straps!

Thanks for all your help again. I do want something tough because mine has to survive high school, too. In that regard I think I'll go goat just because I like durable stuff. I don't really care about distressing it (life will do that), but I do want it to drape well. And I think I'll probably just watch all the movies again and decide which style I like the best, although I probably will go Raiders just because.
