Hey all,
In your opinion, what's the actual color of the Raider's Holster? Lee and Noel Howard make tan ones but the movie holster looks darker. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I think the raiders holster was a tad bit darker than what lee or noel sell, but they will darken up. Also the color of the holster in Raiders could vary. The one that was dragged under the truck or scrapped by sand in the airplane fight could have fadded under the harsh conditions while one that had just been sitting around could have darkened up....yeah, thats just my opinion anyway.

I used Pecard's leather jell on mine and it darkened up nicely. You also gotta think that those things were distressed by the prop department too.

FLAT BROWN, people. Lee, if you read this, please see what you can do to change the holster color to a flat brown. No reddish tint at all. Then I'll get another one from ya'.

I'm right with Agent 5 on this. I've actually hidden my Keppler holster around the side of my Indy mannequin's pants and covered it up with the jacket because it just looks SO wrong compared to all the muted tones of the rest of the gear.
Flat Brown would be perfect. I've made this statement directly to Lee but I'll say it here too. Why do I see the correct colored leather on hundreds of pairs of shoes when I go into a store but yet nobody can manage to use the same sort of dye on the holster???!!!
Until someone can do this, my holster remains hidden.
Chris.

My newly acquired Kepler holster has the burgundy tones and I don't want to hide it like Chris. If I use the Jell and darken the holster, will the burgundy color still show through or will it have the brown color most of us desire?

Indiana Joe,
If you remember, my holster too was one of the originals that first had the burgundy tones.
This season, I finally wanted to make it look a little more raiders-ish and distressed.
The above picture is the result, before (left) and after (right)
PM me if you want some help with yours

Everyone please go to the scene when the revolver is being re-holstered after shooting the swordsman on your Raiders DVD. When the flap is in the up postition, a strip of un-distressed leather can be seen at the upper edge of the mouth of the holster. The "un-prop man'd" leather looks a bit different than the rest of the holster.

I dyed my Keppler holster cordovan, which gives it some red highlights. Yes, I know it's not the correct screen color, but I prefer cordovan. I also dyed the WPG bag strap the same color.

Please forgive me if this is a silly question: Was the holster for radiers a replica of an original holster made specifically for the film, or just an old Webley holster they had lying around?
