Raw Edge

Thanks to those few that were (extremely) helpful looking for an Indy lid. Bought the Akubra (the gray colour is perfect).

Thinking about trimming the brim a bit.

It's a rabbit fur felt. I think they say it's raw edge. Does this mean I can cut it with some sharp scissors (VERY carefully) without the whole #### hat unravelling?

Anybody done this?

I trimmed my old Akubra Fed brim with scissors, as many here have done.

Just take off a LITTLE at a time - its surprising how much difference a tiny amount of trimming can make to the look.

Indeed a little does a lot. Finish it off with some fine grit sandpaper to smoothen the edges and Bob's your uncle.

"Raw" edge just means it isn't bound. Indy fedoras are raw edged, and a lot of dress fedoras you see have bound edge brims.
