Favorite Indy Shirt

Post by Gater »

Well, I don't have a Magnoli, but I do have the NH, Wested, Cabelas and MrsDeadlock Indy shirts.

The NH is on display with the rest of a costume display, altho I had worn it in the past. I like it, but as said on the main page, it is 'costume-y'.

I really like the Wested, and it has a really high material quality, so I find myself wearing it as a 'dress shirt' substitute when I gotta go out somewhere nice.

The Cabelas is good for colder weather, and Geocaching since I don't mind if it gets dirty or damaged, but I must admit that I find myself wearing the MrsDeadlock shirt every second day! (I have more than one, so no worries about funk-factor)

I love this shirt, altho it is a Walmart shirt essentially, the buttons match the colour nicely, and the quality work of MrsDealock is fantastic! And since it was less expensive than the Wested, it is easier to wear often, in case it wears out or gets damaged somehow.

Anybody else love their Deadlock more than the others, or have a preference?

What's your favorite Indy shirt?

I've handled the Noel Howard, the Wested, WPG and the 'Dan' shirt.

My personal favorite is the Noel Howard simply because it looks like the shirt to me where the others have just come close. There is something about it that when I see it it just screams 'Indy' to me, where the others are nice dress shirts. The 'Dan' shirt though, was very impressive and comes in a close second. Still wish I'd have jumped on that one at the time.
Yes, the Noel Howard is a costumey shirt, but hey, it's a costume. It's a thin shirt. Period. It's no less sturdy than any other thin shirt of it's kind so I have no idea where this issue of it being flimsy came from? Still, the stigma around here is that it is just a costume shirt, flimsy and weak compared to the rest. Not so.

It's got my vote, hands down.

I'll bite...
Dan shirt is my favorite (I'll never sell that one.), followed by my NH, then my Cabellas. If I had a Wested I'm not sure where it'd fall as I've not worn one. Still it'd be hard to beat out my Dan shirt (my first Indy shirt).

Having only owned a Cabela's and a Wested shirt, I'd have to side with my Wested. It's not as heavy as the Cabela's (it felt heavy to me), and definetely does not make me sweat as much. I believe the Cabela's is a polyester/cotton blend, whereas the Wested is 150gm cotton poplin. Also, I don't have to wear an undershirt with the Wested when it's cold outside . The only gripe I have about my Wested shirt is that the sleeves are too long, but the cuff doesn't go past the butt of my palm, so the sleeve kind of bunches up around there. Darn short arms o' mine.

I have Noel Howard, Wested and Cabelas shirts. I do plan on getting a WPG and a Magnoli in the future, but of the three I own, my favorite is the NH. I like the lightweight fabric, but what I really like is the fit. Shirts today are not fitted, the manufacturers all believe that we are as fat as I used to be.

In addition, Noel's shirt has a really good look. I will admit that I have sent one shirt through the Dalexis RIT method. I continue to get more of these, but haven't found any. I'll have to contact Noel and see if there are any more available.

ITG,

Pardon my ignorance but what is a "Dan" shirt? I have been away for six months after moving but I don't remember that shirt. Enlighten me.

Thanks,

All I have is a close enough vintage military shirt and an Old Navy. I like both of them pretty equally, though I think I'd lean a bit more to the Old Navy shirt. However, I was disappointed with MrsDeadlock. I have never seen her modified shirts in person, but I was on the list to get one of the last available batches right before she fell off the face of the earth. I was ready with cash in hand and she said she was going to get to the last batch soon... and then disappeared completely. In fact, I think I still have the last PM I sent her waiting in my outbox for her to read. It's been there for a year. I'm just glad I never got to sent money, because then I'd be much more than just disappointed.

I like the Cabelas shirt but I think for me it would come down to either my Rit-Dyed grey "pilot shirt" or the Old Navy shirt. As far as color goes I think the Old Navy shirt is the most accurate one I own.

I think if there was any other "pricey" Indy shirt I'd want it would be the one from Magnoli. Not only are the shirts accurate but you can choose the color you want it.

The only ones I have are my wal-mart shirt and a short sleeve old navy one. The Wal-mart one I lent to a friend one year for halloween and never got it back. Maybe one day I'll get it back. So now, I'm shopping around for a good all around Indy shirt that isn't too dressy looking and can withstand the Vegas heat during the Summer.

If I dress up like Indy accurately, I wear my Indiana Dan shirt. 3 or 4 years ago Dan sold the shirt for like six months and then folded, but those of us who got one know that Dan did his homework on these shirts. I also have an Noel Howard and several LL Bean work shirts which I wear all the time.
