I think that as long as you beat the heck out of it, and feel 'adventurous' when you wear it, then it embodies the 'spirit' of Indy, and therefore works as well as any close-enuff jacket that any of us have ever had.

I like the look of the leather and it's a great colour. Not keen on that kind of pocket though.

I agree with whiskyman, the leather looks nice on this picture. Is there any tak in the jacket which let us know which kind of leather it is?

Looks like horsehide. I love the look of that jacket. Do you have pics of the sleeves and the back. Does it have side strap adjustment? I bet it has a one-piece back panel. Under the yoke panel I mean. No vertical seam down the middle.

The colour is fantastic! Did you distress the edges by yourself... it was the time and usage or it was like that when you bought it?

No wonder I liked it. I was wrong about that one piece back, but if I knew the Sonny Bono label was there, I may not have guessed that. :? Although it still looks heavy enough to survive an impact with a tree or something. Maybe Cher put out a line of Marion Gear.

im not sure what kind of leather it is but it is a HEAVY jacket and a very good quality, i love the smell of real leather. I have some knowledge abouth lether my grandparents were shoemakers(not the formula 1 kind) but making real shoes so i have plenty of leather left over in my attic and great hand made shoes :) i had a couple of fedoras also but unfortunately my parents sold them when i was about 8 and didn't know much abou Indy :(

That's another reason why I groaned at Ricks comment. That's how Sonny died. :(
