My new Gear Holder
Posted: Thu May 11, 2006 10:47 pm
by Ark Hunter
I designed it, dad did most of the wood working. This one is done it walnut.
The only thing I didn't ask for was the holes in the hat rest part. He had to add something of his own I guess. (I think it's a ment to look like a movie reel as it goes in my home theatre)
I could hang a coat hanger and jacket off it or other gear, but I think it's good with what it's got on it now. Actually I could just hang the jacket on the hook, but it would cover most of the gear, but would look good with the hat.
Interested List
randystokes-cherry (maybe 2)

That's pretty sweet! Where's the jacket?

Hey, what kind of whip is that?

Very nice holder. It certainly beats mine, which is any place that I can hang stuff
Best regards,

Very nice IndyDoc! I bet if your dad was willing that he could find himself quite busy. I think I'll have to come up with something similar when I get some free time.

Fantastic
I should look for something like that! My best compliments to your dad.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm going to see him today. I'll ask if he's intersted in making more if I remember.

I asked dad about making them today and he said he'd do them for $50 each. I'm not sure if that included shipping or not, probably not.
You would have the choice of solid walnut or cherry wood.
Unless you like it, I'd tell him to leave off the holes in the hat part. (he told me it actually wasn't a movie theme, he just did it on a whim I guess.)
If there's any other interest (I've had one person ask about buying one and others sound interested) I'll make a list. I'm sure he would like it better if there was a "bulk" order. It's easier to do many at once than one at a time.

The 2 threads for this post is weird but maybe they can't get rid of the "Moved" one.
Ok, post in this thread now that it's back from the For Sale section if you are intersted in buying one of these hangers. I've got two interested so far.

IndyDoc:
As I've already let you know by PM, I'd be interested in one of the gear holders in cherry wood. I'm posting again here, though, just to make sure I get the automatic e-mail notifications from COW of additional posts to this thread.
Thanks.

IndyDoc,
THAT is a nice piece of hardware, my friend. Not only functional, but very stylish! My hat off to you and your dad! Amazing work!

Thank you sir! I was the designer (except the noted holes) and he did the wood working.

I would love to own one but right now my cash flow is pretty tight. I spent the last of my "gear" money on my new Akubra Fed. Deluxe.
That is a very nice piece of woodwork and your dad should be very proud of it.

Doc, talk to me in a short while, and I'll be very interested in nabbing one of these.

Thanks Pitfall. Sell some stuff on ebay, that's what I do to get gear money.
Will do Strider. Do you have a wood preference?

Doc, are you now taking orders on this items?
If so, this is no longer an 'interest thread', and should be now posted in the classified section, with anyone interested in ordering to be sending you PM's.

How is this different than PBG's map brush thread that's stickied in prop replication?
I'm seeing how many are interested and wood preference, THEN I'll actually take orders.

Doc, that's why I asked. If you're taking orders, then it goes to classified, if not, it's fine here.
The brushes are not being ordered yet either. When THEY go into production, that, too, will be moved to the classified.

Ah, ok. I'm not taking orders, receving any money, etc. Just gathering info on interest at the moment.

Very good. Oh, and the brush interest thread is no longer 'stickied'. Thanks for the reminder. I meant to do that quite a while ago.

I just added the list of interested parties to the first post. I added all who were interested, whether or not they had the money at the moment. Did I overlook anyone?
ShanghaiJack, were you interested?

Oh, and when I get this, the holes are fine. I like them. It totally reminds me of a film reel.

I was updating dad on the interest and such and here's an update on things. 1) He said he can't do the hole for $50 as it takes a lot of extra time to drill, rout and sand them.
2) Shipping would be $10 in the US. Probably case by case for international.
I'll have to see if he decided whether to ship them flat (some assembly required) or assembled. (just a couple screws to hold the "arm" on the wall mount)
