Hello!
I am new to the forum, so I thought I would introduce myself. I have long been an Indy fan, and like so many others, have always wanted to own his hat. My search lead me here.
Before I start bombarding you guys with questions, I thought that I would share a little hat project that was inspired by my readings here.
Years ago, I was given an Akubra Coober Pedy as a gift. It looked like this:
I never really loved the style of the hat, and therefore hardly ever wore it. I decided that I had nothing to lose by attempting to modify it.
To start the brim was too wide (3.5") for my taste. So I cut the finished edge off and trimmed down the brim. I tried my best to give it a dimensional cut, it came out ok.
Then I steamed it to attempt to give it a better bash. The crown is kind of short, so there wasn't much to work with, but I gave it my best shot.
Here are the results:
You have a great community here, and I look forward to being a part of it!
Randy
