Hello all

a while ago I posted about my acquisition of a "close enough" Indy gun -- the Smith and Wesson model 28 .357 which bears a very close resemblance to the Bapty gun. well, I walked into my local toy store this week with some money to burn, and what should be on the shelf? The twin. First time I have ever seen one of these just laying on the shelf in a shop. So, long story short, I grabbed it. Now I have a matched pair, and they are awesome. If you are looking for anything like this and can find one, grab it. It is a great piece and they are holding value and creeping upwards. Apparently there are so many imported guns around now, that the older American made guns are becoming very sought after, like real SandWs before they started making them with round butts, hollow triggers and transfer bars. If you find a real Smith with a hammer nose, pinned barrel and recessed chambers, my advice is to start the haggling. I'll try to post some pics.

Great find! I'll tell you, these guys can have all of their fancy plastic pistols. Just give me a good ole blued steel wheel gun!

Agreed, there's nothing that says "COOL" like a pinned and recessed Smith and Wesson revolver! You have to see them to appreciate it! I missed out on a pinned and recessed Smith 629, 4 inch .44 mag a couple months ago at a gun show. I didn't have the cash, and I just can't part with my 6 inch 629 'Classic Hunter'. With it's full lug barrel and unfluted cylinder, I just love that gun

What toy store? Who makes the toy gun?

I think he was calling his local gun shop a "toy store".

Affirmative, that was a ref to my local gun shop. As in, "the only difference between men and boys is the dollar difference in the cost of their toys"

We have a used car lot here in town, that the real name of it is the Toy Store. They sell high end used cars, BMW, Mercedes, Hummer, Viper, Jags, and the like.

Greetings once more from sunny Mosul, Iraq! I, too, am a fan of the Model 28...and all S&W N-frame revolvers. I have a Model 28 at my gunsmith's (Tip Burns) that is being converted to a fixed-sight revolver. Basically, it willl wind up looking like an old S&W, but in .357.

I also picked up a Model 22 revolver just before I headed back to Iraq this time. It is definitely an "Indy" revolver candidate! .45 caliber, fixed sights and that old skinny barrel!

And, yes, when I return home, I will post pics of both.

Mine is the first one he is doing, and will probably not take on another until he has "tested" what he is doing on mine. As I said, I did see the progress he had made just a week or so ago, and it is looking good!
