I guess I really want to know just how stiff the goat and HH are right out of the bag, but a discussion and photo comparison topic concerning drape between all of the various leathers would be a good thing as well.
Pics anyone?

I can't speak for the HH, but my Wested goat was quite soft out of the box. In fact for a moment I thought I'd bent sent lamb by accident.

Of course I won't understand until I have one, but what is all of this talk about goat being so stiff? I'm glad everytime I read otherwise.

goat is famous for being tough as nails and just as stiff. Although I've never experienced that, mine was very soft when I got it, and barely needed any distressing at all. The qualities of the different leathers is as follows:
Cow - warm, rain-resistant
lamb - soft, warm
goat - tough, rain-resistant
horse - soft, tough :junior: -IJ

So the goat is comparable in feel to lamb, but is tough as nails? The samples i got from Peter and co. the goat was thick and tough, not that soft. thats kinds of confusing.

The goat is similar in appearance to lamb, but it is thicker and not quite as soft. Yes, it its tough and quite water resistant.

Obviously lamb drapes the best, but what is second best? From what I gathered..some say cowhide, others say goat.

Personally, I'd say goat. But I've never seen a cow Indy jacket in person.

No, where'd you get that? MY goat was soft, but most others I've talked to haven't had that experienced. I also imagine a lamb would be much softer than even my goat. :junior: -IJ

Who on COW has had experience with, owns, or has owned at one time every type of Wested leather? Lamb, goat, cowhide, pre-distressed cowhide, horsehide?

I had a wested cow that i sold, and i have a non indy leather jacket that is lamb. the cow is pretty stiff and heavy compared to the lamb. It feels very bulletproof.

It feels very bulletproof.
Cool. May I test this theory with my Glock 21?

Just aim for the left bicep for screen accuracy.

I have a lamb skin that is as thin and soft as a fine glove. Nothing drapes like lamb.
I also have a horsehide. It is tough as armor and soft, but substantial and feels a bit like a motorcross jacket.
I think you need both.

How warm is your horsehide? What range of temperature do you recommend for wearing the horsehide?
