WPG Reproduction Bag: Strap Quality?

In past posts it seems the general consensus about What Price Glory's reproduction MKVII bags is that they come with inferior straps. Is this still the case? Do they still come with straps that, according to one post, "leave much to be desired"?

Also, are there any other reproduction bags out there, in addition to Magnoli's?

Thanks.

Yeah. Their strap is just a generic good enough strap. It's lasted me almost a year, but it's just a random strap. Almost any other offering here would be better.

I got the "deluxe" strap from Todd's Costumes and it's very high quality; nice, rich leather which looks great and stood up quite well to a fairly robust distressng!

The middle one here is a WPG standard and the two at the sides are Lost Ark. The WPG is like thick cardboard with a very strange pinkish/orange colour it works ok but it ain't pretty or comfortable.

I do not find the WPG strap to be inferior. The only drawbacks are the color (sort of a light caramel when new) and lack of grooves. My strap has broken in very nicely since I have had it. With "real world" use, the color has darkened up quite nicely.

With a little bit of elbow grease, the WPG can turn out very nice.

Just take a standard folding knife (kind with a half serrated blade) and strip off the weird orange coating. Next take some sandpaper and rough up the entire strap. Then give it a good coating of pecards. Then some brown and black shoe polish and then another coat of pecards. In a couple of days use, it will look like it survived WWI and WWII.
