We all love khaki and browns. Some of us even like stones and greys. I would like to know if anyone has tried Indy style clothes in different colors or color combinations? For me, some kind of khaki/tan pants are pretty much a constant but I like to wear safari style shirts in light blue, green, black, and red. I'm not suggesting that Indy change his look but personally, I like to throw a little color into the mix rather than being beige and brown all the time. Am I the only one who feels this way?

I've mixed and matched so many odd colors and patterns over the years, my kids now call it 'Michaelson gear', so I get away with it.

Heck, I dress that way for work nearly every day! My L.L. Beans look great with a rust colured shirt I like to wear. Also, deep blues work well for me.

Why do you think I CAN dress up so well, John?

I usually stick with the taupe/khaki pants (or jeans) and many varied color and styled shirts, all the Indyish ones are stone/tan though.

I tryed some olive green pants with a short sleeve safari shirt and ended up looking like a park ranger.

I like to go with black slacks every once and a while, but different colors always look weird to me!

This is interesting because I was just saying to my girlfriend the other day that my next project was to collect Indy-gear in a grey-scale theme...Speaking of which, I know that there's a picture like that floating around here somewhere (I know because I saved it on my comp. ). I try to mix it up from time to time, but I usually wear my black Harley-Davidson boots with my jeans, but hey, it's me!

Ah, yes! The dreaded Blue Plaid!
Personally, I wear blue and yes, even some Michaelson plaids. I really like shirts with that outdoors / safari look, like Bean's sunwashed canvas shirts. Pairing a shirt like this and a pair of khakis with a Wested and it's still all Indy.

Plaids don't smell. Oh, er, yes, you meant something else.... Never mind......

I can't wait 'til I can get my pics posted. I did this same thing... as I've said many times elsewhere, who cares about looking like Indiana Jones, really? Who cares about looking exactly like a movie character?

I don't. I like to blend Josh Bernstein (my personal hero of adventuring, 'cause he's making decent cash doing it ), Indy, and a little bit of my style all together.

As you'll see in my forthcoming pics (anybody wanna put em online for me? ), I put a light blue-and-white striped dress casual shirt (two different ones actually, one from Old Navy and one from American Eagle) with two different pairs of American Eagle khaki cargos, threw in my Indyish WWII-issue courier bag and my Redwings (plus my trusted Keppler) and viola! I have a decent look for somebody like me...

Yep, you gotta vary the wardrobe a little, or people think you're weird..or weirder, in the case of some people.

My MO is like Hem suggested, a sort of modified safari/adventurer look, and is mostly dictated by practical considerations. It's all dirt around here, so if you don't want to dump your shoes out every ten minutes, it's easier to wear at least chukka height boots. You can't go anywhere here without sunglasses, so you need a pocket, and if you don't want to pick them up everytime you bend over, flaps on the pockets help. That sort of thing. Of course my wife is always trying to get me to vary my wardrobe a bit, but hey! it works, why change it?

Here's a fairly typical day in the office. Note that Mark, to the left, is wearing standard paleontologist field clothing, consisting of jeans, baseball hat, and a sweatshirt, which was covering up the ubiquitous t-shirt.
