Hi all!

Just wanted to showoff the Giovanni Celeste "Little Raider" whip he made for me. It's 6plait 8ft cowhide in natural tan.
I think he's done great work!

The weather in germany is too rainy to crack it right now but as soon as it gets better i will go out and try it :D

It's certainly got a Raiders look to it. Let us know how you get on with it.

FNS, like I said in another forum before: Very nice whip! Looks good!

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I don't want to open another new thread. Just wanted to show my 10ft. Raiders whip, also from Giovanni:

Stunning
Wow, 10ft whips are really thick or is just an impression?
Your whip is amazing too Tom!

Since yours it's a Raiders (not a 6 plait) and you are, I think, the third (me included) to post pictures of a Giovanni Celeste whip I think it would be of common interest on this board if you open a new thread for your beauty

What colour did you ask for, Tom?

Anyone want to compare the IOAB and the Little Raiders?

Erri, thanks for the compliments. It's a really great whip I have to admit. I didn't order a special color, I just wanted to have it a bit darker and Giovanni sent me a photo of a calfskin. So I chose it.

As soon as somebody buy both I think

Basically the IOAB is 4 plait and the Little Raiders is 6 plait and the prices:
IOAB 8ft - $100
LR 8ft - $96-97

a part from these differences I've seen they are both very well crafted

Based on the pics, I would guess that the IOAB has a bigger diameter and is maybe a little heavier.

Yeah, what is the diameter of the 'Little Raider's' whip?

The IOAB bullwhips tend to be about and inch in diameter right at the transition between the handle and the thong. That's measuring the diameter of the braid, not the ring knot.

What's up with those huge turks head knots, btw? They look a bit weird.

They look straight sided rather than curved/tapered to me. Interesting look I think. :D

They both look like very nice whips guys.

It's about 22mm at this position.

They're an exact copy of Morgan's 80's style whip.

Then the 'Little Raiders' is bigger than I thought. I'd have to guess that at those prices (and diameter) it must be made from cowhide. If it were as small as I originally thought it was, I thought it might have been made from kangaroo. I suppose I can check Giovanni's website to find out.

As far as accuracy in replicating a Morgan, it's about as close as an IOAB whip is. I remember one member of COW posting that the IOAB is not screen accurate ( I never said it was) but for the price it's pretty close. The 'Little Raider's' whip is in the same position.

Does anybody know if Giovanni is making whips full time, or is it only part-time for him right now?

I think Giovanni will come in soon to talk for himself... anyway it's not his main job. He's a lawyer as you can read in his profile

Finally I have time to answer to your questions. First of all I choose the name of Little Raiders because it has half the number of plaits of the Raiders bullwhip (which is 12 plait). On both the whips (raiders and little)my wrist loop is six flat plait as on the morgan whips. The turk head knot is more bulbous like the original screen used bullwhips which are also on the main website

The leather used is not cowhide but calfskin.

"Can you hear me now?"

BTW great screan captures, thats more then likely one of the "stunt" whips used, its a bit differnt looking then the standard Morgan Bullwhips.

...but unfortunately also the only clear scene that I have found about the whip handle. The Hero's whip has a bigger end knot (whatever it's called  ) and I think Giovanni's one is accurate at least from what I can see on my whip which is on my desk right now

BTW, F-N-S, have you cracked it yet? :D:D
