wrist whip!

First, there was the Morgan. Then, the Edge gave us the pocket bullwhip. Now, in the age of IPods and MP3 players, we now have a whip that fits on the wrist!
Okay, it's really a bracelet, and it doesn't crack, but if you undo it you can really whap somebody with that knot. If you're disposed to violence, that is
The neat thing would be that if you ordered a kangaroo whip, you could get a matching bracelet made from the same hide as your whip. Thanks to Paul 'P-diddy' Nolan for that idea.

Neato Adam,
that does look like it would make a nice sap for like a protection thing, or perhapts to subdue an attacker say if you worked as a bartender, along with form and function, I like it.
Clever thinking from old Pee ditty I'd say,

That's pretty cool, Adam!!
Are you (or Paul) going to bring some of them to Oklahoma next month, or is this just a prototype?

Hi Cathy!
I made a lot of these bracelets when I was in high school, so it's not really a prototype.
Paul asked me to bring one or two to Claremore for him, so I guess I should make up a few extra to bring for other people as well.
I cant wait until Claremore! I'm all excited already and I can hardly get to sleep at night thinking about it!

I know!! This one is going to be so awesome!
I talked to Mark Allen the other day, and he told me that alot of people who haven't been there in the past, including last year, are registered this year.
Dang, to see all the people you haven't seen in at least a year, plus learn new tricks, plus get ready for competitions - they need to increase it from 3 1/2 days of convention time to at least 5 or so!!! LOL!
I just want to make sure my camcorder is fully charged, and my camera's memory stick has PLENTY of space on it. (Especially when the fire whips come out!)
(How many more days?!?!?!?!)

Less than 3 weeks now, Cathy! Trust me, I'm down to the wire on getting the Annie Oakley videos duplicated. Just putting the finishing touches on them.
I wish I could be there as well, sounds like it's going to be a heck of a time!

Just an FYI for anyone wanting to go to claremore convention.
The Best Western, from what I hear, is all booked up. The Super 8 only has suites available starting at about 75-80 bucks a night, and the Days in still has some rooms left for 55 a night, but it didn't sound like they had very many left. Hope to see a bunch of you there.
It's gonna be a good time!!!

Hi Cathy,
It should be great to see new faces. I know I'd see new faces if I could just get away from the whip area
So, hopefully there are some new whipcrackers, too. I know Ben Hughes, the Australian men's whipcracking champion, will be there.
I just bought a smaller box for my firewhips so I'd have room for them in my car. I think we'll be lighting them up every night at the Best Western. Last year I think we had to worry about scaring the horses when we tried Chris's whip on the convention site.

Oh, that's PERFECT!! I'm staying over at the Best Western this year. I seriously don't think anyone who is staying there is going to get more than 8 total hours of sleep the entire week! LOL!
Awesome MySpace page, btw.......
So Adam, it looks like you're staying at the Best Western also, which is great! Paul, did you get a room before they got booked up? Does anyone know if Chris is staying there too? (I know there's alot of knife throwers there - not sure about anyone else).
Cathy (16 days and COUNTING)!!!!!

Hi Cathy,
Last year Chris and I stayed at the best western, we reserved the room only a couple weeks before the convention and got a room no problem. This year we called last week to get one there and chris said they were all booked up, so I just reserved a room for us at the Days Inn.
I'm on Chris's way to Oklahoma so we're gonna do the same thing we did last year, he's gonna drive down and pick me up and we will go the rest of the way.
We were kinda hoping to stay at the best western again, because there is a nice grassy area that last year on the wednesday before the meet and greet we had an impromptu whipcracking and ropespinning session in the grassy area, and it was a lot of fun.
Also there is a pool hall/bar right next to the hotel, and a pretty decent diner right next to the bar. When we got in on tuesday there were quite a few WWAC people who were eating there that we met up with, Joe Darrah included,
)
It's not too big of a deal though, the Days in is less than a mile away on the same road as the best western.
I'm looking forward to it,
Paul Nolan

Yeah, I'm considering going...gotta look at work schedule and availability of mom to dogsit. That may be the biggest problem since she may be getting her dog spayed around then and won't want Bogie there as the 2 of them playing together would surely cause some stitches to break.

What if the braclet was long enough to go around the wrist twice?....that would make that much more effective as a 'whacker'???Hmmm?

by winrichwhips
That's an interesting idea, I might just have to try that.
I don't know if making it twice as long would make it twice as effective, but it would be twice as expensive

The thing is, you can't undo the loop. At least on mine, it looks like Adam makes them with the knot last, so you actually can't fit the knot thru the loop. I don't want to force mine thru, but then again, I'm not really interested in udoing it.
Now, if it was REALLY a whip
I'd undo it all the time. Have any of you whip makers ever tried to make a really tiny whip like this size? Maybe 12-18 inches long, that will really whip? (if it's even possible)
Haven't one of you made a hat band that is an exact miniature of a bullwhip? Handle, loop, and all? I'd be interested in one of those! (cue Winrich)

Yep, now that I think of it, I remember Mike Murphy used to make miniture stockwhips in 12 strand upon request, some of the people from the WhipEnthusiast had them, said they made awesome fly swatters,
.
Also, I believe Joe strain makes miniture bullwhips that are crackable and double as hat bands.
Cheers

TR,
The bracelet DOES come undone, so you can put it on and take it off. Of the two knots (big one and small one) the small one was made to slide, so just slide it away from the big knot and the big knot will fit through the loop. Then, when you put it back on, place the large knot through the loop and slide the small knot back, next to the large knot.
I made a few of these braclets at the WWAC convention, and I usually had to show people how they work, so I might have to include instructions with future bracelets.
About miniature whips, Indiana Texas Girl has a mini-IOAB on order, which will be made from natural kangaroo and will be used as a hatband. As soon as I finish it I'll be sure to post pics.
