MK VII Bags at sensible prices. UK.

I've just bought an unissued bag at a surplus Store in Exeter for £15. The had plenty of choice from unissued thro' distressed, worn and repaired. The repaired were only £3.50.

These guys are well aware of the price on line and are also savvy to people buying to resell so please don't take the mickey! But if you want to buy for your own use at a more than fair price from nice people visit...

Endicotts Army Surplus, 2 West Street, Exeter, Devon. TEL. 01392 433331.

SJ, you've let the cat out of the bag there! (Ouch, sorry!)

Let's hope that they are true to their word and "market forces" don't take over.

I can't find a proper army surplus stores anywhere near me, though I suppose I should wander up to Camden Market some time.

Cheers for the heads up. They will never know what's hit 'em.

i can't seem to find the bag at this web site?

I can't either, and I also don't see an option for online ordering.

Talk to them on the phone or in person. When I asked about the bags they disappeared off to a stash upstairs! I think these are sold sparingly. They may not be in a hurry to get rid of them.
I had a long conversation with one of the guys there and he was very clear that he was unhappy with an ebay-er who came in week after week to buy bags "for friends" and then put them up for auction. They didn't mind the profit motive so much as the fact they were being told porkies!
Best of course to call in person and visit the sunny southwest.

Well, that's a rather expensive call for me, living in California, and all.

Very interesting! I knew that there still was some good soul selling these bags! I sent them an e-mail :D
It's so @#$% that greedy b*****ds buy these for so little price and sell them on ebay for a fortune charging nuts like us   I think it's time to stop buying them for a high price, after some time you'll see that they will decrease the cost also on ebay!

Got me one! . about 37 bucks to the U.S. postage paid.

That's quite a good price. On ebay they are sold for 30-35 POUNDS!!! Which is approximately $50-60 without postage. I'm really put off by those prices although I love those bags I stopped buying them for that reason.

Posted: Mon Mar 27, 2006 6:10 am
by Texas Raider
I agree, I've got a few of them, thought I'd get one more. I've sold them on ebay for WAY over 50 or 60 bucks before. But it was an auction, so people will pay what they want. I no longer sell any, I keep the ones I buy now.

Posted: Mon Mar 27, 2006 6:16 am
by Erri
I sold one privately for that sum of money but I didnt make money on it since it was practically the price I paid for it. It just ***** that people have to pay so much for those bags. If we organize we surely can make it decrease a lot... since we're the people making them high!

He asked me to contact him as soon as it arrives so he has a time frame to tell people. I'll keep ya'll posted.

You know, there's an Army surplus not 5 minutes down the road from where I work, that I kept telling myself I'd check at some point, before paying through the nose on ebay. What's the betting they have a crate full of these stashed out the back?

That's nice of him to make us our own page. :D Price to the US is slightly less than WPGs stock of originals. Darn that shipping! Though even to the UK it's quite a bit more than £3.50 though.

The shipping says surface to the US...does that mean it's going via a ship (as opposed to air mail on a plane)? Just curious. If so, that will take quite a bit of time.

I, too, am impressed he put together a COW page for the group. Sounds like a real nice guy.

That's what I assumed too. Many weeks by USPS standards.

Kevin asked me to tell you that the shipping will be per AIRMAIL and not surface. So dont worry

Kevin's OK and usually helpful. I shop there quite frequently. I once 'balled him out' in the shop as he was slow serving me. My fault, due to my impatience - I had to catch a train. I don't think he bore a grudge,

These things are very common in the UK by the way. If demand exceeds Kevin's supply I can get more in unissued condition if club members want them.

He's doing good. Updated the site to say airmail now. He says to write a note based on the "grade" you want and the price as below:
UK / EU / WW (all prices fully inclusive)
Unissued £15.95 / £17.95 / £21.95
Issued/perfect £12.95 / £15.95 / £17.95
Grade 1/ok £9.50 / £12.95 / £15.95

I got mine today too, Cheers Kevin. Nice new bag!

They come double bagged, the ouside is a heavy duty polythene sack. So tight you might even have a little bit of Exeter air inside. :) Oh, and it has that familar "Army Surplus" smell! LOL

I've tried. No luck. Surprising how scarce they are here, given that there was an Australian Manufacturer of them and we are a Commonwealth country!

I've only ever found two in Oz; One I own, the other was so perished that if you touched it, chunks of canvas broke off in your fingers. It was like a dry leaf.

Vampire Mark VII !!!

The old Mark VII which Merrick had mentioned is very interesting..it remind me if someone touch it and it will come to pieces....a Mark VII wear by a vampire..Blade , Dracula etc, haha!!!

Yup, has the strap, and the chest string, and a little string on the mini pocket inside, I don't know what that's for. :)

If Kevin's stock runs out I can easily get you an unissued bag. They're very common in the UK. PM me if you get the chance.

Here's pic's of the bag as promised earlier. It looks brand new the only thing (besides the year stamped on the flap) that hints toward the true age is a slight hint of cellar and that is already reduced noticeably since i unpacked it this morning.

The 2 little cannisters that came with my first bag?

I assumed it was like anti-foging. I don't know for sure though. I think Swindiana is the resident bag historian. He might know. What do those canisters you have say on them? (or have in them?)
