Jacket [FINALLY] arrived: unbelievable!

Post by mantis3214 »

Hi everybody!

Just got back from the post office with the new jacket and WOW is it unbelievable. For those who dont know or remember, I originalyl bought a dark brown lamb for christmas but it was too small... and instead of sending back I ordered a new one.

Well after all of the delays (3 months!!) it finally came and the difference between this goat and the lamb is crazy. The goat is SO much softer, has a better drape, and it just looks darn good with the grain. I couldn't believe it, for I had thought after my leather swatches and what everybody on the forum said about the lamb being the softer/etc of the two but not in this case! It fits perfectly, looks awesome, and again that leather is just unbelievable. Ill try to get pics a little later but again WOW it couldn't have turned out better. Props to the gang at wested they really did a great job with this.

Here are some pics, and sorry they are compressed cause I dont wanna pay for my bandwidth lol. Additionally, they are pretty big so watch out and also make sure you click on them to see them FULL SIZE.

I tried to gte the color to show correctly, it is a dark brown, with a hint of almost purple its really hard to describe but it looks great! Here are the pics, included a shot of me (yep, thats what my face looks like), also are shots of the jacket with an old brown shoe so you can compare the type/color of the leather. Finally, look at the goldfish! I used the saturated goldfish as the color temperature so hopefully those are more accurate. Enjoy!

The other one is staying back home and is there if a family member wants to use it, I guess. And ya I dont quite get it but this goat is certainly softer and drapes far better than the lamb. I dont get it. The lamb felt like Vinyl in comparison, a big hunk of plastic. Well it doesn't matter, this one rocks! :)

Ya its goat ;) It is a bit heavier and feels far more substantial. Its crazy I know! Maybe its a new type of skin or I just got lucky? In any even thanks, its been a rough few months waiting and hoping this thing would turn out ok

Actually I understand what you mean, you can only see the shine on the pic on my album. I'll take a pic tomorrow under more controlled light.

Mantis, when you get a chance how about some shots out in daylight? I know what you mean about the purplishness of the dark brown, not that that's a bad thing.

Yes, Peter FINALLY got the metal loops correct and then he changed colors on us! They went from being black to antique brass. If and WHEN I order another jacket I'll provide my own hardware.

It did occur to me that maybe it was, but after further inspection I could just tell it was the dark brown from that strange purplish aura of color. Its really hard to describe, its unique to this type of leather and treatment I guess. But ya the color is great, its brown enough yet dark. :)

Indiana_Tone wrote:Yes. It is goat. Nice coat, Mantis. I think you might be talking about the shiny, slick sheen feel of the leather rather than it's being softer than the lamb. Semantics. The lamb does have a pleather-y feel to it - but that is softer. :D

Either way, cool coat! I must say it's the most Authentic Brown looking Dark Brown coat I've seen. You sure it's not Authentic brown?

Yeah, my "black anodized rectangular sliders" showed up brass as well. At least the rectangle part was correct.
Maybe thats what im feeling, it just feels nicer than the lamb as I recall (having just been home and fiddling around with it.) I guess it all depends on how you define "soft" - the lamb can be soft considering it has virtually no grain yet it doesn't have this feel of the goat even with its grain so ya lol.

Ya again its not authentic, certainly dark look at the picture of the strap you will see it virtually purple which is how the dark brown looks. Also, the pictures were taken in direct sunlight and with a white balance of the exposed white area on the goldfish container- I did this so that the color could be as vibrant as possible to try and show the "truer" colors. Hmm I guess I'll have to have my parents ship down the old leather swatches so that I can prove it ;) hehe

Odd! When I got my goat, it was much stiffer than my lamb. Not cowboy hat stiff, but noticably stiffer and heavier than my lamb.

Hmm!!

well I will try not think about this too much... at least they match with the zip

they could avoid to say BLACK RECTANGULAR SLIDERS and only say the square slider description
