So, while I've been watching the creek outside slowly rise, I've been hearing how lucky we've been so far here in Southeast Ohio, as many areas of the Midwest US were hit pretty hard by storms.

What got me particularly thinking was hearing today that Springfield, Illinois was hit really bad. Now, when I think of Springfield, I think of two things: The Simpsons and Chris "Canasta" Camp. That got me thinking about folks here.

So, is everyone OK? Chris? Needing to trade in your Aldens for flippers yet?

Hope everyone has pulled through the gullywasher safe and sound.

Dan, have you heard from Chris yet? Is everybody doing ok??

WOW! I heard about Springfield but I failed to recall that Chris was there. Now I'm also a bit concerned.

Canasta, call in buddy. We're worried about you, man.

I haven't heard a thing. But then, Chris has been pretty silent round these parts lately.

I've sent him a private e-mail. As soon as I hear something, I'll pass it on.

OK. Quick update. I just decided that Chris might be off in his own little world and called him.

Chris, his family, and his place are fine. They managed to get through relatively unscathed, but both the East and West side of Springfield DID get hit pretty bad. His kids JUST went back to school today, and there are still parts of the area that are impassable with debris on roads and such.

But he is fine, in fact when I asked how he was when he answered, he hit me with his normal, cheery response of, "I'm doing great, man! How about you?"

So, all is well for the Camp family.

Just thought I'd pass that along. Anyone else we should be sending the search parties out for?

Did it hit Missouri at all? How's Paul doing? I sent him an e-mail about 4 or 5 days ago, and he never answered. Is he still online?

Not sure, but I didn't hear that much from around Fenton, (where Paul lives, near St. Louis.)

Either way, it's not unusual to send him e-mail, and not hear anything back for weeks at a time, (he goes off into the Nolanverse, and often emerges with nifty whips.)

I know he's still kickin' though as he's got a couple items on eBay right now, (not Indy Gear, so I feel pretty comfortable bringing it up.) I can't find a "Starting Date" on the auctions, but they're items that I tend to keep a pretty sharp eye on the comings and goings of, and I don't remember them being there a few days ago, (shortly after all the psycho weather.) So, I think he's alright.

I might try to give him a call tomorrow, or get in touch with Gery to see if he's heard from him.

Not to worry, I'm alive! The storm wasn't too bad where I am, but about 20 miles north it was really bad. On the news they said there were 136 tornados that touched down in Missouri over saturday and sunday.

Thanks for the concern, and I'm happy to hear chris is ok too.

i didn't realize that SPringfield had hit the radar and I haven't had the chance to visit COW in around a week or so.

This storm was the worst to hit since the mid 1950's.
We had two F2 tornados touch down around 8:30 and covered a nine mile stretch before taking leave again.
I had fallen asleep in my kid's bedroom around 7:30 and woke to the sound of sirens. (Kids are reallllly hard to wake when they've just fallen into a hard sleep) We ran downstairs, and outside to the celar. My wife was out of town around 45 miles away. We were able to come out around 4 am when the last warning expired.

My area of town came out pretty good, but the west side and east side got really torn up. Over a thousand houses were damaged and a good number completely destroyed.
A lot of people and businesses are still without power and my kiddies just went back to school today. It cold be another few days if not weeks before all power is restored. It's a drag, because Barnes and Noble and Best Buy won't be open for quite some time.

Anyway there's the skinny.

Paul & Chris, very good to hear from you two! Although it sounds like the tornados & storms were quite close to both of you, I'm very happy to hear that they missed where you 2 are.
