Hey all,
For those of you wanting to source metal loops for your "screen accurate" Raiders jacket, here is a great online store that sells them:
http://www.strapworks.com/index.asp?Pag ... ProdID=129
You can have them powder coated in flat black, gloss black or charcoal!
You want the 1" loops by the way!

Dem be da ones, Dr.
GREAT FIND!!!
I've been looking for these on and off for years with no luck. FS are absolutely NO help whatsoever as they won't even sell their correct flat black ones and Wested's are gloss black. I was very fortunate enough to have Minesotta Jones give me an extra set of the FS loops out of the kindness of his heart. Thanks again, MJ.
But these are perfect and if I ever need more I know where to go now.

Glad to be of service. I scoured the internet for these once I saw Peter's current offering which appear to be antique brass rectangular loops. I think I'd rather supply the hardware on my next Wested and "play it safe".
Regards, Dr. J
P.S. I agree that FS weren't much help. Back in the day, they sent me two complete sets for FREE. Now, I can't even buy 'em!

Yes, doze be da ones. Theyhave them in a variety of sizes and colors, not to mention the flat black that Wested needs to replace their gloss black ones with.

I bought 2 sets of flat black. They look great! Now, I just need to save up to buy the Wested!

Uh, J, isn't that kind of like buying a new set of hub caps before you have the car?

Its not quite as bad as drawing the parallel to the classic car folks where we would be buying up "parts jackets" to supply our "main" jacket.

Only if the car manufactuer puts random hubcaps on every car.

Yeah, maybe some green loops for St. Patricks Day! Black and Orange for Halloween, etc. Customize your Wested for EVERY holiday!

So, Dr_J.... the $64,000 question is, how did they turn out when actually on your jacket?
I wish I could tell ya. If you'll re-read my post, you'll notice I "put the cart before the horse" (sounds like something Michaelson would say) and bought the loops but not the jacket. The 1" dimension IS the inside measurement though. Hopefully, someone else will take the plunge and order some (and actually put them on a jacket).
I bought an extra set by the way. If someone is about to order a Wested and wants to use them for field research, I'll donate them in exchange for a detailed "results" thread complete with pics.
Regards, Dr. J

Oops, little late on that one, my new jacket should be here any day now.

I ran the sidestraps on my Daughter's Wested through the 1" loops I purchased and they fit great. I need to try it on my Flightsuits though. My Daughter's Wested is a bit on the "wee" side though the straps are comparable to a full-sized jacket.
Hint: Hers is the one on the right.

Dr. J

Here's the back of the mini-Wested. Note: She has accurate Raiders loops on her sidestrap. For a two year-old, she's a stickler for accuracy.

Dr._J, How about some pics of your FS jacket? There doesn't seem to be many good pics of the FS floating around.

Wow! You don't see too many FS pic requests nowadays. Sure, I'll take a few pics this weekend!

Looks like she's done some distressing to the elbow there.

Actually, I think she chewed on it. It arrived ten days before she did

Well, that's one way to distress it.
