Indy Shirts @ H&M

For anyone in Germany, I spotted some very Indy-like shirts at H&M the other day. Beige and Khaki green. No beige sizes for me so I nabbed the khaki green, which looks great too. They're very spot-on, shoulder epaulets and everything! I have a funny feeling about this... Since when is Indy wear trendy? H&M's spring line looks very safar-inspired, lots of wrinkly safari jackets and military-style shoulder bags. At least they don't have any EUR 20.00-fedoras!

We have an H&M here in Ft. Wayne where I live and I've seen the shirts you are talking about.

They did have white ones which I tried on. The problem with them for me was that the epaulets on the shoulders only came halfway across and the shirt's material was really thin.

Now it is possible that they may have different ones that I haven't seen for the spring.

Thanks for the "heads up" though. :)

That's cool news. For some reason, safari gear turns up at H&M with irregular intervals. I found a very Indy shirt there in the early nineties, Canyon's got a nice H&M shirt from a few years back - and now this. Most excellent.

Railok - you reading this?

Yup. Those must be the ones I saw around Christmas.
I actually liked that they were so thin, it only makes them closer to the NH shirt in my opinion.

EDIT:

Whaddayaknow, I managed to dig out an image from the web -

Hi Garzo,

must have missed your appearence here! Welcome. Another member from Berlin, the lion's den!

Thanks for the info on those H&M shirts. I own one myself (in a lighter colour than the one, Swindy posted) and it sure is a close one. You can't go wrong for that price.

Yeah. that's one of the shirts I saw. It comes in this color and green. There is a white on though that is similar to this one but the shoulder pieces are different and so are the pockets.....I think they were pleated. After I saw the white one I then noticed the shirt in the pic above and started looking for it in white but no luck.

That shirt is to dark for my tastes though.

Nothing that a couple Bleachings can't cure, unless it's like an IM shirt. Right Ken

I just wanted to add that they are 65% polyester, 35%cotton, slim fit.

Slim fit? Aw man, that rules me out. I either have a waist of doom or Short Round strapped to my waist beneath my shirt.

And to add one more thing, that fabric blend can be very, very hot. It's tough fabric, but it feels almost like a costume before a few washes.

I was just out at the mall here in my town where H&M is located and they do still have the white shirts that are similar to that brown one. They also still have the shirt that's pictured above still for sale.

That picture is very deceptive. The shirt at the store does not look as good as that. To be honest it looks rather cheap in person. I don't know how "breathable" the shirt but the material is very thin.

If you were going to get one of these shirts for your Indy stuff then I'd do what Canyon did with hers.

Hey Ed,
The site is all animated. That is probably the problem. Javascript may be something you either have turned off in your internet settings or something you need to download to your web browser. Check your internet settings first.

Good luck,
John

We have Java, but the site doesn't work for me.

i also couldnt find the shirt while looking through all the java and flash. Its very annoying more than cool to make a page in flash i feel. Everything takes way to long and usually u can jsut go back a page, u have to start all over.

Anyways where is the shirt so i can look at it and order possibley. It seems very nice and im interested. My WPG its fitting very nice now, not as clingy tight as i really want , but much tighter than unwashed. My moms going to tighten the back section still and it should work great. Never hurts to have another close enough though :D

Does it all come up in English for you guys?

If you have found the shirts it will be on page 4 of those, at least in the Swedish version. You'll see I guy looking to his left wearing the white one.

Java and Javascript are completely different things. Have you enabled Javascript from the browser's settings?

I can't find Javascript to see if it is enabled or not

With Internet Explorer: Tools --> Internet Options --> Security --> Custom level --> Scripting --> Enable all three

With Firefox: Tools --> Settings --> Content (or something like that, 3rd one from the left) --> Enable Javascript

Again, I don't know if or how it will work outside Sweden.

You can contact them on kundtjanst.se@hm.com and ask them if it is possible within the US.

I don't have three. My wife got her computer to work, but only once?
I'll try to upgrade the browser.

Thank you,

Still not working. Is it possible to send an English link with the shirt that is being discussed?
Java and Javascript are all on and checking out. We don't get it. :?:

We have flash, java, and javascript activated and nada!
As I said, my wife's computer worked once and then would not us look through the site?
I like the idea that the H&M shirt has the front pleats. I have many of the other style shirts, but could use some front pleat ones at this good price, from what I gather.
I suppose a size up would take care of the trim fit. That is what I do with Ralph Lauren Military Cut.

Well, I managed to switch to the US version and evidentally you can't shop on-line over the pond through them yet.

There is however a list on in which cities you can find them in case you want me to do a screen grab of that. (St. Louis was not included I'm sorry to say.)

I also managed to get a glimpse of the US collection and there was only af ew shirts represented, not this model. My guess is there should be a few of them in the stores though.

You can't get an URL since you have to switch countries internally in their database. I'm surprized it doesn't do that action automatically.

Worst case scenario; I'll pick one up for you. ;)

I have to agree that it looks rather underdeveloped compared to the Swedish one. Maybe they will find a market for shipping clothes mail order outside Sweden aswell some time. Right now they seem to just open new stores instead.

No problem. It has sort of become another hobby of mine, tracking down info. ;)

Still, I'd recommend shooting an email to kundtjanst.se@hm.com just to get the matter straightened out. (kundtjanst = Kundtjänst = Customer service.) :)

I recently read an article of them opening up an on-line shop in Holland, end of 2005. One country and place at a time it seems. They also said Russia might be a lucrative place for that in the future, so I'm not sure how long until they reach the US.

Anyway, here is a composed image of the cities listed;

After being able to go into the store here in Ft. Wayne I'm telling you guys you aren't missing anything.

I've checked out the "Indy close enoughs" and their not that close! Most of the stuff they offer like that reminds me of early 80's retro military stuff.

I agree, the H&M sirt is not a very good Indy shirt. I hit the H&M in Orland Park, IL yesterday and saw the shirt first hand. I did pick up a nice linen shirt but it's nothing like an Indy shirt.

I'm expecting my new shirt (pictured below) that I ordered to arrive by Wednesday. The only thing with this shirt is that the pockets aren't pleated.

I will post pics of me wearing it along with all my other gear once I get it all together.

Hopefully one of us will find a good close enough shirt that's cheap just like we did with the Dillard's pants in the other thread. :)

Guys, today I bought two mens shirts from H&M in small.

One is white and has epulates and is 100% cotton and was £9.99 (14.90 Euro) and the other is mid brown and is 100% linen (slim fit) and was £19.99 (29.90 Euro).

I'll post some pictures soon. :D

I bought a h&M shirt last wednesday
it was @#$%
the quality is sooo poor ( white color) im gonna dye it. But
jeez what a cheap shirt €14,90 is still a couple of euros too much !!

What about the shirt makes the quality poor? I love their stuff 'cause it's cheap and fitted and for a student, that's a huge plus. really hard for me to find a decent fitting shirt for a good price. Everyone in north america makes these straight cut shirts that look like i'm wearing a baloon. Waaaay too much fabric.

I'm not sure how well they hold up since I don't own any shirts from them. I've only commented on the fact that the shirts in question don't look that good in person as they do in the pictures posted.

If your going for the "Indy Look" as far as shirts go then I'd save up a little extra cash and buy either the Cabela's stone colored safari shirt or some of the other shirts that myself and others have posted.

You can view my WearGuard shirt that I bought and dyed here in my pics thread.

H&M SHirt

I picked up that H&M shirt but I took it back a few days later. I wasn't crazy about it when I bought it, it was an impulse buy. It really is not screen accurate. Yes it is "Indy-esque" but it is not screen accurate. It's made well and is very affordable...just not screen accurate.

Seeing as I have 3 other shirts very similar to it...I returned it. But again...a good "Indy-esque" shirt.

PS - not even sure if Indy-esque is a word. LOL
