I searched through the forum a bit and tried finding info on reblocking.. At what points do you want to reblock your Akubra? What is reblocking exactly? how do you get it done? how much does it usually cost? does it lower the durability of the felt? thanks again Ladies and Gents

At what points do you want to reblock your Akubra?
- When it's to tapered to suit my taste.
What is reblocking exactly?
- Pulling an already existing hat over a hat block, with the help of steam and / or water and letting it dry.
how do you get it done?
Send it to a hatter, who has a good Indy Fedora block.
how much does it usually cost?
Depends on the hatter...
does it lower the durability of the felt?
Nope. What kills the hat is the perforation that occurs, when the sweatband is put in by too narrow stitches, but no prob on an Akubra.
has anyone used Kahl & Sons Hat Stiffener?
Haven't heard of it before.
Hopes it helps (I'm a little short at time currently, so please excuse the short answers).
Regards,
Marc
Thanks

This oughta be in the FAQ.
Some more questions:
Is the hat entirely disassembled to do this? Or is the sweatband just peeled back leaving all the stitching in?
Is the ribbon removed?
I'm assuming the liner is removed. Is the liner generally glued in, or stitched in?
