What hat colors go best with Westeds?

Here's a what not to wear question, Indy-style. I've been looking at buying a new hat and I am wondering what colors go best with a Wested jacket. We all know most shades of brown will work but what about a tan or beige hat? Gray? I'm thinking of getting an Akubra Safari which only comes in tawny fawn. I'm not sure that will really go well with a Wested. Maybe if I added a contrasting ribbon? Are there any hat colors that are definitely not compatable with Westeds?

Havana,
IMHO beige or tan should look fine with a Wested. Look at your Avatar.
His avaiator hat looks great with the Dark brown flight jacket that Collins is wearing. Grey would be kind of iffy.

How does the grey look? I thought it might look OK with my Expedition since it is SO dark.

The grey hat I usually wear with my Wested is a cool, blue-grey color. A browner shade of grey should go nicely with it, too. I think it looks pretty good. Of course, I usualyy only do this when the rest of my outfit is in the black, blue, or grey range.

HJ,
That does look good.
Oh well now I suppose I will have to order yet another AB.

An excellent look you have going.
If you were buying your first, would it be gray or brown?

Thank you very much!
Boy, that is a tough question. For this forum, probably the brown. I mean, you MUST have an Indy hat. But, I find myself wearing my gray one more because it goes with the suits I wear to work and with many of my sport coats. My brown Adventurebilt is my travel hat. If you look on my website, you'll see me wearing that one everywhere.
I would probably get a brown first, but the gray would follow closely.

By far, the best I've found is the AB seaplane gray that HJ and I own. It shifts color to whatever you're wearing at the time (at least mines seems to).
The upcoming granite gray Camptown appears to have the same possibilities too.
Anyway, that's the one I've found to be the most versitle.

Great description, Michaelson; it truly does. "Seaplane Gray" is an excellent name for the color. Fedora really nailed it.

Grey hat fits if the pants or so are grey too.
You hae 3 tones in colours mostly used in vintage. , Greytones (Black and White included), Earth Tone (green till Brown till tan), and Bluetones (all sorts blue)
Hold them close together, and you can't go wrong.

I had a gray fedora that I wore with it on occasion with a bandana underneath, but its currently missing in action (blew off on an adventure ;c)
I've really been looking into getting a WWII Aviator cap like in Havana's Avatar to wear with my Wested... does anyone know of a good place to pic one of those up (that is price friendly ;c)
