At the end of ToD, when Indy is facing Willie in the village, the sleeves of his jacket are extremely wrinkled, with scores of tight folds, even when he lowers his arm.

I've tried to get that look on my authentic lamb, but the winkles just won't stay. What do you suppose they did to get all of those very tight wrinkles?

You can get this wrinkles by using water. Just let the sleeves soak with water, wrinkle them up and let them dry. When you now unwrinkle the sleeves all the wrinkles will stay.

Beat the @#$% out of your jacket...(not really) but you get the idea.

Those are some of the most distressed jackets I have seen are the ones from TOD.

They are a bit overkill, but i suppose if your sleeves are long that kind of wrinkling could help shorten them...

I think you also have to remember Peter saying that the lamb used in the movie jackets were thicker and more similar to the goat of today in texture and weight. My ToD goat developed sleeve wrinkles quite easily to stay as it is rather more stiff then the lamb hides I've handled.

Just a thought.

I love these wrinkles because they make your jacket looking aged though it isn't and without distressing! But I have to agree those wrinkles are a bit to much for my taste! I like the wrinkles in the LC tank-scene and the Raiders FW-scene better!

Pulling out an old thread, I should mention that for those of you who still wonder how to get those S.A. wrinkles, I think I might have a solution...

The other day, my vegetable tanned Wested got totally soaked unexpectedly in a downpour, and today, I noticed that the sleeves are wrinkled just like that screenshot, though not to the same extent. I suppose for those of you who want that kind of look and decide to do something similar on purpose, the ToD look shouldn't be all that hard

Considering the TofD jacket was a Cooper and had the nylon lining, that doubled the inside heat of the jacket as well!

No WONDER Ford didn't want to wear it for the majority of the film!!

I, too, like the wrinkles. Is it possible/advisable to wash a cowhide wested in order to get the look?

Wet the jacket and then push the sleeves up to your elbows if possible and wear it like that for a while....

I took a paper towel with a little acetone while the sleeves were rolled up and just lightly brushed the top of the wrinkles. That way they appear to be more wrinkled than they really are. Ask Binkmeister Rick for photos of his jacket to see what that looks like...

Speaking of sleeve wrinkles. I did find that my USW goat lost almost all it's wrinkles living on a hanger all summer. If you don't want that perhaps consider an alternate method of storage in the off season.

i have found that jackets with all cotton linings make the sleeves wrinkle like that and also seem to help the jackets drape more like the ones in rotla. regards, hanson.
