Thoughts on a new Wested

I ordered a Last Crusade model about three weeks ago, after 4 or 5 drinks (took that many to work up the nerve). A few thoughts:

1. Took about 3 weeks to arrive, which is pretty nice service.

2. Total cost works out to about $400 CDN (including customs duties).

3. Giving a suit size works very well -- sleeve length works out great in my case.

4. My GOD, this is lightweight! When I picked it up at the post office I thought something was missing in the package. Must be too used to an A-2.

5. Side straps are going to take a little getting used to. I've got them extended halfway at the moment, so the waist fit is a bit loose but it doesn't look too bad.

6. Color's a little light compared with my DVD viewing of the movie, but I'm attributing that to distressing. Leather tends to darken with use, right?

first let me say congrats on you new jacket. My jacket looks darker under different light( so go play with it under different light). I had the same thought when mine came in the mail ( I thought they forgot to put the jacket in the package. Enjoy it.

I think some leathers may lighten and darken depending on the type of wear, others more experienced in distressing I'm sure will help you with that, and I thought I heard of a specific distressing technique to darken the leather, so you may be able to "search" the forums for more info on that, if someone else doesn’t chime in with a technique first... (what type of leather did you get?)

also, I know everyone loves pics :c)

Yey! I' guessing you got the authentic? From my experience the milkyness of the authentic seems to darken with time, I have a 2 part theory with that one but it might just be my crackpot theory!

I think there are waxes on the surface causing the milkyness as they wear down this seems to disappear, the second part is... in your mind you are expecting a darker jacket and as you get used to the colour it doesn't look too light after a while. The screen one IS the same colour as that in certain light (when he is filling the sandbag, and when the sunlight hits it). It does look darker a lot of the time in the movie, but this might be lighting and the way the camera catches it, along with the distressing. People who have seen one of the screen used jackets in person have attested to the authentic being spot on.
