Other Akubras?

Akubra makes so many great styles of hats. I think many of them would look good with Indy gear. Does anyone wear any Akubra hats other than the Federation with their Indy gear? Please share some pics if you have them.

I'm currently working with Ron regarding the new Akubra 'Traveler'. So far, it looks like it would be a good travel hat that can be crushed into a suitcase, and come back for more.

Stay tuned as things develop.

Regards! Michaelson

Those are great but I was thinking of Akubra's in their original form as in not necessarily modified to make an Indy style hat. (Does that make any sense?)

I saw a Akubra Cattleman the other day, very nice hat. Not an INDY hat but nice hat all the same.

I always thought the Squatter or the Bushman were nice looking hats.

Just to be clear, this hat - while technically a Snowy River - was reblocked as a Raiders' hat by Steve. This is not how they look out of the box...

I have a Jackaroo (looks really Aussie with my Drizabone), a Banjo Paterson, in fawn, which looks good with any of my leather jackets, black or brown, Indy or other, and a CEO in fern green. I think the CEO looks good with my Wings lamb, with the reddish tones or a black jacket. While I like the Banjo Paterson, as it is a very comfortable and well made hat, using their better grade of felt, I'm starting to NOT like the shorter crown.
Having said that, it was the hat I wore all day today!

My C.O.W. handle comes from my first Akubra, the Bushman. With the 3 1/4" brim (same by the way as the Snowy River and Cattleman) it's a nice "bump up" from the Fed.

I have a battered old Squatter. It is a good hat, but the bash comes somewhat tapered. I wouldn't get another.

My brother gave me a Silver Spur he didn't care for. It has a 3 1/2" brim (same as the Military Slouch). Despite the name, it really isn't a Western hat, but more of bush hat. I don't know if it is made anymore. Try Greg Grant Saddlery.

When the sun gets really intense, I turn to the trusty Territory. I also have a Sombrero, but that is not a town hat. It is great in a gully-washer.

I've got an old Riverina from 10 or so years back, it was my main bad weather/outdoor hat until this past year. Served me very well in the Idaho mountain winters through many a blizzard, unfortunately I left it in a hot car one too many times and it shrank up a bit :(

I'll probably get it reblocked at some point, I've just been enjoying my Fed Deluxe and AB so much I haven't gotten around to it yet. Still, I have nothing but good things to say about my Akubras, they take a beating and hold up great. Fantastic work hats.

Yup, they still make the Silver Spur. I was just in contact with Hatsdirect about it a few weeks ago. However, its a custom order and takes a few months to recieve though.

I've been looking at Akubra's various hat lately. Something that I can wear hiking during the summer "monsoons" without worry. I'm still tempted by the Overlander.

Over the past 16 years I've had 3 Snowy Rivers, a Down Under, a Squatter, a Cattleman, a Wentworth, an Akubra-Stetson Open Road, and 2 Collys in addition to 3 Federations. My favorite bush hat is the Colly because of the high crown. I did trim 3 centimeters off the brim, however, so it's closer to the Cattleman now.

Sorry to bring this back up, but here are some suggestions I have for a hat from Akubra (though I could recommend many more outside just one hatter).

First off the Flinders Hat from David Morgan.

My next suggestion is the Military hat the Akubra shop.

The last two are also from the Akubra shop. There is the Bogart, and then the CEO.

Just my few opinions!

I also like the Territory. I'm tempted to order one, but I can't decide between the sand color from David Morgan or the Khaki from Hats Direct. :-k
