An Oiled Leather Indy Jacket?

This idea hit me while I was fiddling aound with an oiled leather backpack I have. Why not an Indy jacket made out of this leather? It would be almost ideal. By nature oiled leather distresses easily, yet the distressing is easy to remove. (i.e. you can't ruin your jacket with acetone or sand paper cause you don't need it.) It has a dull finish and is naturally water repellent. It sounds good to me, what do you guys think?
P.S. For those of you who might not be familiar with this type of leather its not oily to the point it comes off on your skin or clothes.

Yup, just what I was thinking.
The backpack I have is an L.L.Bean, it is also very soft and the color is a beautiful rich brown with just a hint of red. I'd love to have a jacket to match it.

Is this the same material as the waxy cowhide used for the Tomorrow Never Dies jacket or is it something else?

I don't know. Waxy may be the English term for what we Americans call oil tanned or oiled.

Barbour sells some leather jackets that are treated. They describe the materials as follows:
WAX LEATHER
Natural cow hide which has been treated with a protective wax.
OILED LEATHER
Natural cowhide specially treated with a unique oil to give a water-repellent finish.

I'm not sure this is pertinent, but it is interesting.
Here is an example of their treated leather jackets.

Thanks for posting that Hemingway!
I knew about their jackets, but I hadn't really looked at them.
Anywho, the fact that oiled leather (or at least the type I've got in mind) distresses easily and in a controlable fashion would make for an interesting jacket.
