US Wings Indy Jacket
I'm just wondering what you guys thought of this one. I'll be in the market for a new Indy jacket soon and am exploring all options. I'm not interested in minute detail screen accuracy (it looks fine as far as I'm concerned), but how does it feel and is it well made? Thanks a bunch.

If your going to go ith us wings go with there vintage cow hide jacket I own or have owned all there indy jackets and that one by far is thebest I love mine.
Hey,
I actually have 2 WINGS INDY jackets. Both are Lambskin. They are a much heavier hide than the Wested. Also warmer in a colder enviornment. They are kind of stiff when brand new but soften up fairly quick once worn for a while. I think it is a more durable jacket than the others out there.
The Large came with a kind of pre-distressed look and has a 1 panel back.
The Extra Large is a solid dark brown and a 2 panel back (there is a seam down the middle, top to bottom). They explained to me that it was just a different run.
I like both of mine a lot a but that is just me. If you go with a Wested or Flightsuits Expedition you can make changes to the fit of the jacket when ordering. With the US WINGS it is only off the rack sizes.

I've got a Large "Antiqued Lamb". It doesn't look anything like the one on their site though. I like the color and the lamb in nice and soft and it does seem to be warmer than the Wested, though it's been warmer all around lately (though it's supposed to snow tonight or tomorrow). I'd say mine is a nice Last Crusade looking jacket as it's got a more redish brown. It's got the one piece back but the sleeves have an extra seem across the elbow, but it's not too bad. The sleeves are about 24" on the large. It may still be listed in the for sale section if you are interested. (there's a couple pics there too) Personally I'm going for a new Wested with longer sleeves as 24" is a bit short on me.
I have 2 Indys from Wings, a VIP cowhide and a New Zealand lamb, and an A-2 in goat. All fine jackets, all different in the look and feel of the leather.
The only "issue" I had with the VIP was that the sleeve lining protruded from the end of the sleeve and needed to be tacked further up. I think the lamb has the heaviest look to it, then the cow. If you are looking for a softer, lighter weight, you might want to try the goat. I really like my goat A-2 from them. If you do get one, be advised, do not remove the tag until you are sure the jacket fits and there is no reason to return it. Removing the tag nulls your return privileges.

I'll have to admit, the one Wings goatskin was my most favorite of all the goatskins I've owned to date. Unfortunately, the sleeves were to short on me, and to go a size larger would have made the entire jacket huge....so my niece ended up with the jacket.
I agree, though the VIP cowhide is my personal favorite, you can't go wrong with one of the goatskins in my opinion.
Regards! Michaelson

Yeah, it is a nice warm brown that's lightly distressed looking. It looks like G-Mann's Large above is an "antiqued lamb" also.Bjones wrote:Indy Doc,
I really like the color on the large....nice jacket.
Ah, just checked and it looks like my Wings has slid off the For Sale page, so I'll have to post it again I guess. (Maybe you were refering to G-mann's post Bjones?)

Thanks for all the responses guys. I may consider the goat from Wings. I definitely want another lambskin Wested, but I got a G-1 for Christmas and am quickly becoming a goat hide fan. That short sleeves are no problem as I have short arms anyway. I have a Wings goat A-2 on its way to me now. I'll see how I like that. Thanks again.

I'm extremely happy with my Goat Wings jacket. In fact, it's the jacket I wore in to work today. Quite a bit thicker than my Goat Expo and with the all cotton lining, a very good light winter jacket. More winter than my other leather Indy Jackets. It's a nice dark brown color as well.
As everyone above says, they're standard sizes (S-M-L-XL) so it may or may not be an exact fit. For me, the XL fit perfectly with the exception the sleeves were about an inch too long. A trip to the tailor, and that was resolved. Now, it's perfect for me.

Sorry, I'm slipping a bit...L/XL. (EDIT: Looking back, I had it right...you tricked me! )
It was marked as an XL on the inner tag, but the tag on the sleeve had L/XL written by hand. I think this is why I was able to pick it up on clearance... ...someone may have complained or maybe they felt it wasn't QUITE big enough to be an XL, so I ended up getting it cheap. (This is the varsity jacket I just bought.)
