Alden heal question. Replacment

My Aldens have started to wear down some and the rivets/nails are starting to click when I walk. Should I be concerned or get them to a cobbler to have the heals replaced>

YES! Its cheaper to have the heels replaced than to have a complete sole rebuild... which is what you'll need if the heel edges begin to wear into the wooden sole construction... take it from one who knows

I've also pushed that envelope (in other wooden heeled boots) and had the nails drive up into MY heel. Replace soon!

I've had the heels replaced by a local cobbler on my Aldens before and it didn't cost much at all. Yes, fix 'em before you lose wood!

I've always thought that shoes with nails in the soles were trouble waiting to happen. With as fast as I wear down normal shoes, I would be having Aldens re-soled about every 5-6 months.
I have to walk about 7-8 miles per day all on pavement, so my shoes wear out quick. How long do Alden soles last?

May I suggest for future reference when you have the new soles & heals, have a cobbler put the small rubber toe & heal savers on. I did that last year when I purchased my Aldens and they work great. I work in an office so the carpet really can wear the bottoms down. You don't notice them and in the long run will save you money.
