Hello all,

I recently purchased a beautiful Webley Officers holster on Ebay. However I have nothing to put in it.



The big problem is that I live in Chicago and we have about the toughest handgun laws in the U.S.. I have a pellet pistol that I inherited but it is way too big to fit the holster. Thus useless as a prop.

My question here is does anybody have any ideas of how to obtain a decent prop. LEGALLY?

The only thing I can think of (and I hate to say this) is to paint a water pistol

Greetings! Since this is my first post let me say thanks to all you people here for all the great help & info. I have been lurking here for about a month and finally joined up.

Now as far as a pistol. I have lived in Chicago my whole life (until 3 months ago) and I went with an airsoft pistol. I play WWII airsoft so I just threw my Tanaka S&W M10 "Victory" revolver in my Indy holster. Yes I know it's too small "technically". But it looks better than a rubber gun, painted water pistol or no gun at all.

I have since moved to the south burbs of Chicago and found out that unless you move out of Cook County you'll never own a handgun...legally. The gun laws absolutely **** here in Chicago/Cook County. At least the criminals can get their handguns.

I used to have a Colt .357 Mag that I sold years ago. At that time you could purchase a handgun within city limits, but now as you have stated you cannot even purchase a pellet or bb pistol in the city.

Airsoft pistols are "legal" in the city. Just don't go walking around downtown with it and don't point it at a police officer.

Paid about $60.00 U.S. for it. It was shipped from the U.K.

I did not know airguns (pistols) were legal here. When I look them up online it allways states CANNOT SHIP TO ILLINOIS.

Images are very little, hard to say if they are screen accurate or not

To me it looks as though they have black rubber grips but I can probably change that. Something even fairly close is better than nothing. I hope.

Western Stage Props has a nice rubber Webley Mark IV. Maybe this is something for you:

The nice thing about the Tanaka M10 "Victory" Revolver is that it has the 4" barrel. Yes it is technically a .38 but once you swap out the clunky grips and get some vintage grips, I think it looks pretty darn good.

I'm a copper in Illinois (west suburbs), and can tell you that you should have no problems with owning the airsoft gun, as long as you don't use it to hold up a convenient store. I've argued with poor phone operators from Cheaper Than Dirt and Sportsman's Guide about the laws on many an occasion... the only reason I can see for them not sending to Illinois are Chicago's stringint laws...

I ended up ordering the same Airsoft that Capt Zak posted the photo of.

Should have it in a few weeks.

If you think you have tough handgun laws, don't even think of coming in Europe.

Most of the european people will not even see a real gun in their whole life... and in France, i know that you can own a "blank firing" gun at home, but carrying it is completely illegal.

According to our laws, carrying a mace, stun gun, coshes/clubs, knuckle duster, blank/gaz firing pistols, etc is fordbidden.
You can own them at home, that's all.

Basically, if you are attacked in the street and want some self-defense, you better use your bare hands and practice a martial art.
Because if you try to defend yourself with an illegaly carried weapon, your opponent will be able to sue you, and will most likely do it !!!

That's very weird, considering that police officers are very well equiped... (not private security agents though, who got the same rights as civilians, which basically means : nothing)

For those interested, to own a real gun is even more complicated. A rifle is easier. You just have to be 18 and declare it to authorities (and be a member of a shooting club i think).
For a handgun, it's close to impossible. You gotta be 21, have been a member of a shooting club for 6 months, have your shooting federation approval, have the authorities approval.

Then you have to get a chest to keep it locked when you're at home and you can only carry it from home to the club, with locking-mecanism on the trigger and dismantled in a locked-case...

Crazy, if you ask me, when you know that everyone in Switzerland HAS to keep an assault rifle at home... and they don't seem to have more problems than we do (maybe less).

Oh well...

FYI, AirSoft and ModelGuns are both authorized.
For now... because there are looping discussions about forbidding "items that look like real guns".

They are the closest thing to a real gun. They got the same mechanism (which is not the case for a airsoft gun) and they got ammo/ejecting shells/blowback stuff and everything.

It's a great A/S gun G-MANN. The only thing, if you have a "Todd's Basic Holster" the S&W Victory's barrel will stick out the bottom due to the fact that the gun is smaller than the .45 revolver and it slides further into the holster. I just found that out a few days ago when I received my Todd holster. I have to sew in an end plug to fix the matter.

Nope, my holster is a vintange Webley and has the end plug.

It's really good looking... although... 155 dollars... but for a gas gun i guess it's a good price

They were kind of expensive but for an actual working pistol it was the best option for me. By working I just mean the trigger and hammer operate and the cylinder advances like e real pistol. The weight is also right.

How much it was for the shipping?

I think about $27.00 US for the Black, It came from HONG KONG. It got here in under a week!

I think the Silver finish was about $15.00 U.S.and came from HAWAII. That arrived in 3 days.

man oh man after seeing that M&P arigun I had to order one myself, It's beautiful just needs new grips! So of course had to get some grips too. Thanks for showing us that dentrinity shop airgun, Its got to be the best thing out there that I've seen other than the real thing.

I recently obtained Artsee's replica. It is very nice for the ROTLA fans and fits the Todd's $20 holster perfectly.
I have the Airsoft 38 spring pistol. It fits the vintage holster and Sam Browne belt that I have for sale, perfectly, too.

wow, I thought I had it bad here, but Illinois laws are crazy! I was purchasing some switchblades, and when I found that I could not carry them, I was appalled. So you are saying that you cannot buy a gun... at all? doesn't that violate the right to bear arms? I can't imagine guns being banned in an area... but sure enough

now... this was 1983... I can't say for certain that it is still this way, but to me, that says... you can own it as long as you intend it for use as part of your Indiana Jones costume... doesn't it?

And i thought that USA was the land of weapons I see many states has many limitations about this issue

In addition to Artsee1com offerings on eBay, there is another seller there, too, albeit more expensive, you can get it directly without the orange plug that is required by eBay. (By the way, their prices just went up when I checked them today.)

Who has a replica Smith & Wesson Hand Ejector 2? I have one replica, but it gets swallowed up in a Todd's Deluxe holster. It makes me wonder why I bought a replica in the first place, but it does fit the holster.

Also, I just remembered that Western Stage Props has rubber S&W and Webleys, too.

So does anybody have a Hauntedpast replica S&W model besides me? It looks good and fits the holster, but it is very lightweight. I wonder how it compares to an Artsee1 or GWSP rubber model.

I think it's totally overpriced and not half as nice as Artsee1's. The Western Stage Props one is resin, not rubber (though they have it listed as such). I've owned that one as well as Artsee1's and they are both approximately one pound. Here is a pic of the WSP prop gun (which was originally made by Lee Keppler I have to add):

Well, I'll chalk my purchase up to yet another one made without enough research. I didn't know you could find a real 1917 HE2 with the correct barrel length, and I probably paid too much for my replica. My Hauntedpast model doesn't come with the lanyard swivel, so that is a bummer to me.

Does Lee Kepler still offer his replica, complete with the lanyard swivel?
