My new Wested - an even shorter Raiders

Being the owner of a standard ToD, I wanted my new Wested to be shorter – quite a bit shorter. I was married to an A-2 for 20 years and grew accustomed to the shorter length. I like a short jacket that hangs right below the belt comparable to the length of a classic fit jean jacket so I got the good people at Wested to trim an extra inch off the length of my new Raiders. I am very pleased with results. It fits exactly where I want it, at the belt and up above the pockets.

Havana,
That is a beautiful jacket. I like the fit very much. Well done.
What kind of leather is that?
BTW, that is an interesting hat; what style is it?
Great look.

Thanks. If you look closely the jacket still has the wrinkles from being in the package. It's lamb skin in authentic brown. Curiously, it is a wee bit thicker than my Tod lamb. The hat is an Akubra Bobby which I totally reworked to my liking. I tried combing what I liked about Indy's hat - the pinch, color, and ribbon, with the style of western hat that I like. It turned out pretty well. The pants are Wranglers from Target if anyone is interestsed. The backgrounds are from a friend in Dominica (more inspiring than the background of my garage in the original shots). My original pictures look great but when I put them on the photohosting site they look really low resolution and crappy.

Havana, the jacket looks great! My Wested is cut to that lenght too. I find a short jacket comfortable when zippered.
I like what you did with your hat. Very distinct looking.

It's nice to see some variety in hats, and to see the gear taken in new and distinct directions.

I got the idea of combining western style with an Indy fedora from an unlikely source. See the links. I just toned it down to a 2 5/8" brim and 4.5" crown.

I dig the fact the you altered "the look" to suit your own tastes and style. It turned out quite good indeed.
On a side note, at first I didn't know who that was in the new photos. For some reason you look completely different (younger) than in your avatar. Maybe it's the lighting or something creating an illusion of gray tones, but the "avatar guy" looks like he's around 50 (not that there's anything wrong with that
). Although maybe I'm the only one who thinks so.

Okay Skychief, you cracked me up. I'm actually 33 but I get accused of being all kinds of ages. I do have a semi-beard in the newer pics. Funny sidenote - within hours after my wedding last year, someone asked my wife (13 years my junior & 5'.0") if she was my daughter.

I have a similar jacket. While I also like the shorter jacket, I dislike that the jacket is shorter in front than in back on mine. Next time I order, I will ask that Wested adds the additional 1" in front to compensate. That is the only thing I dislike about my jacket. Very comfortable...

Wait...okay on a real side note here, you're 33 and your wife is 20? Man, forget Indy, I think we should idolize
you instead. I'm gonna start HavanaGear.com, 'cause I've got a new hero.

I think I have those same Wrangler pants. They are cotton, not sure what model.

Ahhh- I never liked wool so a close enough cotton pants is the thing for me.
Thanks Feraud

Havana,
We have so much in common. I'm also 33 and my girlfriend is also 20. Kinda nice, isn't it?
Another thing in common is your jacket. Is that new, ordered directly from Wested? Reason I ask is that I had a jacket that looked exaxctly the same in terms of fit. Just wondered if that was my old jacket making the rounds of Wested fans?

The jacket is new, just received from Wested on Saturday.

Dude! I guess I might need to change that avatar. Anyway, thanks everyone for the comments on the jacket. I'm loving it more everyday.

Havana, two thumbs up on the changed avatar, it's like night and day. Now you look like the original Havana's son.
