Do you distress the areas under the pockets? Like where the flap closes to button down. What about the inside of the storm flap, or under the collar? Do you do those areas? Or just the outside, what everyone will see?

The places that would distress in normal use. Use your imagination.

Or just do what looks good. It's artificial anyway, right? ;)

I'm sure the pro's will have something to add though. :)

That's pretty much what I did, then threw in a few things for aesthetics.

As for the underarms, collar, etc: I lightly distressed the underside of my collar with a tidbit of acetone because I thought that the leather would rub off some dye over time. I then distressed the top of the flap pockets (the pocket itself, under the flap) to illustrate consistent use over a long period of time.

Eventually, people do notice (in my experience).

Personally I would do a little bit under there, just so there is not a massive contrast between nicely distressed and brand spankin new. Dont spend as much time or effort on it though.
