great pics! and a great jacket, gotta love D/B goat... you have a nice indiana-like skin tone by the way... hopefully by the time next summer's through I'll be un-palificated too but for now I'm a little more translucent than I'd like ;c)

Looks great Pitfall nothing quite like a new Wested...'cept maybe a new AB. Dark brown in any of the leathers is definitely the way too go in my opinion. Merry Christmas!!! :D

Looks like it works. The sleeves look a little long on you. What features did you order? I know this is not the right place for this, but man, I like what you've done with that hat! For a Dorfman, it's looking much nicer than usual.

Thanks Guys.

Rusty, I have to thank my parents for the skin tone. This is about as pale as I get during the winter.

As far as the sleeves go their actually the right length for me it's just the way the jacket was hanging when I had my hands in a fist. The sleeves come just above my first knuckle.

Here's my order.

Height: 6'1"
Chest: 42
Sleeve: 26"
Jacket_Size: 46 Reg.
Jacket style: Raiders Jacket
Leather: Dark Brown - Durable Goatskin
Lining / Zip: Cotton Body-Satin Sleeves (rec)
Side Fastener: Anodised Black Rectangular Slider(buckle)

Requests:
X-Box Stitching
Reinforced stitching on pockets and hand warmers.
Back elastic "action" pleat.
Leather facing on inside pocket.

As far as my hat goes. The pics don't do it justice. I think it looks alot better in person. Even though it's an official hat I didn't have to work with it that much. All I really did was get rid of the "tear drop" crown.

I'll be posting more pics eventually. My wife wasn't being to coperative when taking the pics because we were in the middle of getting stuff ready for our Christmas Eve family dinner.

Well....I'm off to bed. I can't wait to see what Santa brings me in the morning! ;)

I just noticed something on my jacket. It doesn't have a label with the jacket size on it. I've read posts on here where people have said theirs had a label with the size of the jacket on it.

I just found that kind of strange.

Most of the custom made Wested's do NOT have a size tag, so it's not unusual at all.

Well...

That clears up the tag question then. I thought maybe they forgot to put one on mine or something.

Infact, I would have thought they might put a tag on it saying that it was made out of Goatskin.

Another thing I noviced was they goofed on my certificate they sent with my jacket. It says "Raiders Jacket" at the top , which is right. On the paragraph down below though it says that it's an exact copy of that jacket worn by Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Now I know I've got the Raiders jacket because it says it twice. Once on the top of the certificate and my invoice that I recieved with that jacket. Plus, it looks like it's right to me.

I'm very happy with the jacket and it is the perfect fit for me. I can't wait to wear it outside this spring.

Hmm...I wonder where the dividing line is for 'custom', then.

Mine has a tag, as the measurements are all standard for a 44R (I'll tweak it next time, but they seemed close enough from here ;)).

But I had other non-sizing mods - I chose an LC w/ a Raider's collar, and two inside pockets w/ full facings.

Maybe I got a tag because they still consider it a standard 44R in size, even if it has other mods.

Or this is sometimes a random thing, and not worth second-guessing. ;)

Your right.

And besides....it wouldn't be a true Indy jacket if there wasn't a little mystery involved. :)

Looks like it fits great! (including the sleeves) I'm liking all these DB Goat jackets. I may have to get one, though I'm waiting on my leather samples just to see what they look like in person.

Well,

I hope everyone is having a good New Year so far. As far as 05 goes the last month was the best because I got my jacket and had a great Christmas.

Then 06 started and it hasn't been so great. I got the stomach flu the week after New Years and missed almost a week of work. Then I find out the rumors going around about my company (Waterfield Mortgage) being sold were true and they announced it on Friday the 13th none the less that 650 people (myself included) won't have jobs after March 14th because the company will no longer exsist. Then ontop of that my car starts having problems.

The good news is...

That I was able to start fulfilling my New Year's resolution by getting into better "Indy" shape. Thanks to the stomach flu I lost like 13 pounds! So now all I have to do is start working out. HA!

My car isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg to get fixed and I'll get it back tomorrow.

My job is going to pay me up until March 14th even if we run out of work and are sent home before that. After that I'll get a severence check and be eligable for unemployment.

So as far as getting anymore jackets or my whip this whole thing has put that on hiatus for now.

I'm hoping to , with all the free time I'll soon have , post some more pics of myself and the jacket outside. Weather permitting. :)

I'm so sorry to hear that, a couple of guys are having or have just had the same work problems happen to them, chin up. And keep trying.

BTW I've been visiting one of the Tombraider forums recently, they're answer would be WOO HOO 13 pounds! :)

Hey, Harry, sorry to hear about your job! I used to work in the commmunications department at Indiana Tech before the new president thought it was a good idea to close down the whole department. Unemployment is no fun ( I was there until moving to Maryland and getting a far better job) but at least the cost of living in Fort Wayne makes unemployment a little "easier" to deal with. You also have the advantage of still having a job until March (we were let go the same day) which gives you some time to look for work elsewhere. Good luck!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. :)

I plan on using the time to look at going back to school. Hopefully I can get started in something I actually enjoy doing and can make more money at.

Back when I saw Raiders the first time I told my mom and dad I wanted to be an Archeologist. Even though I enjoy history and all that stuff I think I'm a little bit past getting into that field at this time in my life. I'm more artistic in nature anway.

Yes, I guess I'm lucky in some ways. I will get paid through March 14th even if they run out of work and they send us off before then. I'll also recieve a severence check after that plus unemployment.

Back when I started with the company they were having a record year and who would have thought it would be gone a few years down the road. It's the second largest job loss in Ft. Wayne's history. By June 650 people will not have a job.

I tell ya one thing though. I got my jacket and I'm not going to let this little set back stop me from getting my whip! ;)

You wouldn't work at Magnavox would you?

Nope, he stated Waterfield Mortgage above.... Yeah, I thought it was pretty tactless when they hired a new president and CEO for Lincoln Life on the premise that it would remain in Fort Wayne. And then right after he got the job, he packed everything up and moved it to Pennsylvania. There used to be a lot of industrial jobs that are no longer in Fort Wayne, too. Pretty sad.

IndyDoc, as far as Magnavox goes, thhat commpany has changes hands/names more times in the last decade or so than you can shake a stick at it. There's not much beind "Magnavox" anymore than a name. The big contracting side of things went from being Magnavox, to Phillips, to Huges, and currently to Raytheon. I think they change to K-Mart sometime next week. I know, my father works for MagnavoxPhillipsHugesRaytheon and is about set to retire.

Oops, missed that detail.

Yeah, that's why I'm in Tennessee and not Fort Wayne. Many moons ago Dad moved from Magnavox (when it was Magnavox) up there to Raytheon down here. I don't remember if that was a move, transfer, or layoff type thing though. Then Raytheon did lay him off later. :?

He now makes old time music instruments instead of being a packaging engneer. :D www.noteworthyjohn.com

My father used to work for Magnavox in Leesburg, Virginia. The, shortly after building a new facility, they decided to close up shop there and offered my dad a transfer to Fort Wayne, or tho opportunity to look for employment elsewhere. He's gotten to the point, though, that no one else has his level of computer security clearence, so if they can him, they're up the creek without a paddle.

I think it's cool what your dad's doing now! Oh, for more expendable cash!

The same day Waterfield announced the closing there was a story in the local paper about 11 stores closing this month in the Glenbrook mall. Thanks to the mall managers doubling the lease alot of stores had to either relocate or going into bankruptcy because of this. This town has become all retail and they can't even keep those jobs.

Ah, well.....

All I want to do is get on with my life and get my bullwhip! :)

I was just wondering what type of leather conditioner I should use on this jacket?

I know ALOT of people on here use Pecards and I was thinking about getting some but I wasn't sure which one of their products. I don't want anything that's going to change the color just keep the leather nice.

Also, do people use that Pecard's stuff on whips?

Yeah, just the regular "Classic Leather Dressing" won't quickly change the color of the jacket. (it may darken a bit over time). It does tend to darken up whips and shoes to some degree, especially when first applyed, though I've found that tends to fade (on shoes at least) after a while. Also see the Indy Gear page at Pecards. http://www.pecard.com/enter.html?target ... lang=en-us

The regular LD can go on pretty much everything. If you do want to darken shoes or something you can use the "Pecard Weatherproof Dressing - Brown Tint".
