You have a 40 inch chest, and you ordered a size 38 jacket? Why?

A size 38 jacket will have an actual chest measurement of 42 inches.
This is only going to give you 2 inches or less of movement room.

The jacket will fit very tight if you wear anything other than a very thin
tee-shirt.

Most jackets require 4 inches or more of movement room to be
comfortable to wear. You may have some trouble with your jacket
being too tight acrosss the chest when you move your arms around,
or try to zip up the jacket.

You may want to order your actual size, or even a size up, like alot of
people do, to get a jacket that fits good.

Just a thought.

Congrats my man!

And I really think you should pick up on what FLATHEAD is saying about the chest measurement before it's too late. Unless you have something very clever figured that we don't yet, of course. ;)

If your chest measures 40 inches, then you should go with a size 40
if you want 4 inches of movement room, or a size 42 that would give you
6 inches of movement room if you intend to wear sweaters and
sweatshirts under the jacket.

What you should do is take a jacket that you already own, that fits you
the way you like, and zip it up, and lay it flat on your bed.

Then, take a tape measure, and measure it across the chest from under
one armpit to the other.

Take that number and double it, and that will give you the jackets
total chest measurement.

Subtract your own chest measurement, which is 40 inches, and you will
have the amout of movement room you like, and that fits you well.

All Wested Indy jackets are made with 4 inches of extra room for
movement over the tagged size.

So for example:

A size 38 Wested has a 42 inch chest measurement,
A size 40 Wested has a 44 inch chest measurement,
A size 42 Wested has a 46 inch chest measurement,
A size 44 Wested has a 48 inch chest measurement
and so on.

Find out what you want in a fit, and order your Wested accordingly.

I have a 42 inch chest, and I like a little more room in my jackets so
I can wear a sweater or sweatshirt under it, and still be able to move
around freely.

I went with a size 44 Wested, which gives me 6 inches of movement
room if you subtract my actual chest measurement from the chest
measurement of the size 44 Wested.

Hope this helps.

It really helped Flatty :D
And a good advice for my next wested.

ESPECIALLY since you're still pretty young - so a little extra room couldn't hurt keeping your favorite jacket fitting when your metabolism slows down, or if you work out and develop a broader chest.

P.S. :

If your coat is 65" long it's gonna look like a gunslingers duster. ;)

I think he meant 6' 5", which makes the Wested duster another foot or so longer. (Does that make a ToD duster?)

What the heck, 6'5" is 195,58 cm.

And yes, now that everybody are talking about it. That was an error to and me and Swindy fixed that up too. The same with the sleeves.

Just curious to see if you heard anything from Wested about your jacket Indy_Railok? We ordered ours at just about the same time and I was trying to gauge IF I'd get mine before X-Mas.....Which I'm kinda doubting. :(
