Hello!

I ended up ordering a pair of the Wested Indy trousers because I am in need of some new threads. If they ended up being anything as nice as the jacket, great!

I wasn't disappointed. In spite of the 21-day wait that I was quoted, they arrived within a week and a half!

The hang and cut is great - exactly what I was looking for. I like the heavier, slightly coarse wool. It is reminiscent of several suits I have made from old wool that someone gave me as a gift.

The colour is a bit darker than I was expecting - a bit "browner", but it isn't bad at all. I can live with it. The fit is excellent, and I really, really like the construction. They seem very rugged and I am even considering ordering another pair.

I wear them to work with a tie and a proper shirt and no one is any wiser that I could suddenly spring into action-hero mode and possibly save the day!

They are one of the things I got for my collection that I thought was worth every penny I spent. Though I don't wear them as much as they deserve they do a lot for the Indy look I think. Alas, they are a bit big in the waist since I have gotten smaller in the same area. Nice cut, nice fabric. Very Indy.

Nah, just eating less of some stuff and more of the other.
Not even intentionally I dropped from about 98kg to 85kg in a few months time, so I need to dress with more layers now that the winter is here.

So how does the material of the Wested trousers compare to the heavy twill on original WWII regulation officer's trousers/pinks?

I don't have any pinks to compare to myself, but I was surpriced at how soft the cav. twill was when having heard how heavy and coarse it would be. They are pretty sturdy, but still dress pants in my book... of pants and their fabric. (I've been looking into it since lacking them for a while myself.)

They are not stiff like some chinos, but drape like curtains on your calves on a brisk autumn day. More poems on denim up later for those interested.

My curiosity leads me to ask you about the fit of Wested clothing. I now own a used jacket and love it. I would like the shirt and pants when funds are available.
Do you know if the shirts come in specific neck and sleeve lengths and can the trousers be purchased in odd waist sizes, like a 37 for a cut that can be worn with braces?

My 84 year old father was an Air Cadet in WWll. Being a cadet allowed him to wear officers clothing. He still speaks of the "pinks" and gaberdines. Beautifully made, comfortable compared to the regular uniforms, and most of all sharp looking.
His favorite combination was the dark jacket and "Pink" pants. Orvis carries the pants and shirts currently. However, they are quite expensive.
I have a khaki Ralph Lauren Polo miltary shirt. I accidently got it in with bleach and it came out the pinkish khaki that people talk about. It really does have a pink hue.
My suggestion, if you can afford the price, buy the goods. Just wonderful stuff.

The fit is pretty much what it says... I ordered a 38 because I don't want tight trousers, with a 32'' inseam. I tend to wear my trousers up pretty high, but they look great. It is nice to have an article of clothing where the size is actually what is stated on the tag!

Unfortunately, I'm STILL waiting for mine to arrive. It's going on 2 months now since I have placed the order. Still no word from Gemma other than she'll notify me when they are shipped....

Hmmm... when I placed my order she did say that they were all out of the material. Perhaps the Halloween season wiped out their stocks?

Now, we should be careful with trouser sizing. American sizing massages the ego a bit; I believe a size 38 pant in America has an actual 40" circumfurance. I think the UK sizes are acurrate. I think, and I could be wrong, that you should measure your waist and order that size, or tell Wested what your waist measurement is, acurrately! Am I correct with this, or has Peter made an allowance for the difference in sizes???

My 38 LLBean Cavalry twills measure 38. My Wested 38 actually measures 37. I would just order your waist size. Humans make them, so they aren't all perfect.

I think they are, yes. I actually learned a while ago that the reason for men's pants being cut tighter after the loose fitting eras was the invention of the Jockey underpants. Less men started to wear boxers and didn't need the extra room... Could be just fashion too, of course, but I like the story and I do think that the Westeds have a bit of a 30's cut going on.

I don't think that the missing inch makes much difference. I swore that the Westeds were the same size as my LLBeans until Michaelson asked me to measure them. That's when I discovered that they were a little smaller. I hadn't even noticed up until then. I think you will be okay if you just order your normal size.

Maybe some other people can actually measure their Wested pants and we can find out if they do normally run a little small.

About sizing... i believed i wear a 33inches.. i ordered 32" wested and they fit me really good.
Anyway no one of you think that they are a bit ... loose? The crotch is very loose on my pants, is this a raiders feature? I can live with it but sometimes i feel like i'm wearing a wrong size pants although the waist fits perfectly.

That's double pleated 30's cut pants for ya'. Not a lot of men wore briefs at the time...

I'm happy with the 30's cut. My body fits that style rather well.
Don't wear your "tightie-whities" with them Get some nice boxer shorts with SpongeBob Squarepants and they will fit just right.
These pants are not like an old hotel with no ballroom

I hope so cuz' that's all there is. Just take a look at how they turn up on film. I bet you'll think they're a bit lighter then.
