Visit to Tynemouth and distressing

Post by Harrison_Davies »

Last night I spent about 6 hours with sandpaper and decided to distress my jacket, as the car seatbelt had already started the job.

Maybe too much who knows, but today went to Tynemouth, north coast of England, it was freezing.

Harrison,
That looks like some beautiful country up there.
The jacket, from what I can, looks very good. Though I am no fan of the Yankees cap. Remember, I'm from Boston. :D
Great pics, and thanks for sharing.

That jacket is looking good, have you lost a few pounds?

The usual thing applies stand back a bit before proceeding any more! Maybe a bit of pecards or letap. Just ask the Jacket Whisperer.

You are right about it getting cold, I was wearing my lambskin out on thursday night with a fleece and a tshirt, about -4°C and it was way too cold, time to visit Wested for a 3/4 length shirling! :)

lol - we've been twice and I always keep an eye out for ya. I'll give you a nod next time.

okay i think I overdone the distressing, especially on the left sleeve seam. Will pecards, reduce some of the damage?

Wow! Left sleeve seam notwithstanding, I think the jacket looks great! I especially like how you've accented the wrinkles in the sleeve... how did you achieve that effect?

First off, I think it looks great! Very LC-kind of distress marks, and not overdone, IMO. In case you want to modify anything, you could - carefully and in slow steps - go over the rest of the jacket to get it "up to par" with the accentuated sleeve marks.
What did you do? Acetone, sandpaper or both? If using Pecard on the "raw", sanded surfaces, the leather will most likely absorb the dressing all the way through, thus darkening or ruining your distress work. Pecard might also move the brown dye from the undistressed areas if you're not careful.
Once the unprotected leather gets "redyed", the result is irreversible.
Still, I think the sleeves look cool, and very "dragged behind-a-truck"! :D

Wow, quite the color difference between the shadow of the rock and the sun by the pier.

Thanks for the comments guys...only just noticed your replies whoops. Apparently it looks much better in person.

and since coloring in the marks with brown boot polish as suggested in another post, it looks more subtle.

regards,

I pinched the natural wrinkle from inside so i could then rub sandpaper over the very top of it going with the wrinkle - difficult to explain.

Some of that was done while wearing the jacket and accenting the wrinkle.

Let's just say I have popeye arms now after distressing with sandpaper...Lamb is one tough cookie to distress.
