What's old is new again.

Well, it's been a couple years since I've visited COW. I found this site back in 2001 and joined up in 2002. Used it to research and purchase my first jacket: a Wested goat. Goat was kind of new to Wested then and it had this dang gray color to it in certain light. I sold it to a fellow COWer and since have bought a FS Expo: 2nd or 3rd generation, I can't remember anymore; and a Vintage Cow from US Wings.

Well I've beaten both jackets up pretty good over the last several years and so was getting ready to buy a VIP from Wings. I know this will be heresy to most here but it's always been my favorite for actually doing things. The FS looks great but feels more like a dress jacket. The Wings jacket just feels like a real working jacket. Well, thought I'd jump on over here and see if there were any comments from owners of the VIP and, what's this? They've reversed the sidestraps?! I better investigate. My COW research juices started flowing again.

What did I find? Nothing has really changed here. There are still some old "friends": Michaelson, Sergei, Schwammy, Captain D, Indiana Texas Girl. But notably absent are MK and several others. The same controversies still rage and the Holy Grail of Jackets and Fedoras has still not been found. (Nice to see that Fedora has a nice industry of his own though with AdventureBilt, Congrats!!)

The pockets still look too big on the Wested's and the new collars still stick out like batwings (and people should all read MK's old post on how to fix that). People still complain about FS's cost and the generic "Not-quite-a-jacket-from-any-particular-movie"-ness of the US Wings.

So, like the very first time I visited COW there still isn't a good answer to my question:

Which jacket should I get?

Man it's nice to be back.

Welcome Back, Jaydoc1.

I've got a Gibson & Barnes (formerly FS) Goat.
However, I plan to order a Wested for Christmas.
It's hard to beat having a jacket made by the man who made the originals for Harrison Ford.

As far as hats, I know I'm not alone when I say that IMHO AB is the best value and quality Fedora on the market.

Looking forward to hearing more stories about the early days of COW.

Best Regards,

Well, look what the cat drug in!  HELLO there, old friend! It's been a LONG time, and you've been missed! MK has been busy running his own forum, the Fedora Lounge, but comes by every so often to see what's going on.

Yep, new faces, many of the same debates, though agent5 has turned over several new stones in old material, so it's not all 'discovered' yet.

Anyway, don't be a stranger!

HIGH regards! Michaelson
