Alden shoe : what type of leather ?

It seems that there are two type of leather in shoe manufacturing: greasy leather and smooth leather. (cuir lisse et cuir gras in french) :-k

And you have different polish according to the leather.

What about alden boots ? Have you ever heard about this subtility ? :?:

According to the mainsite they are "Heavy, full grain brown waxhide".

There are loads of threads regarding the care of Aldens in the archives - Pecards, polish and so on. Personally, I used regular shoe polish and standard pecards on mine.

Hi Ob,

when you say "regular", does it mean : " common polish like you can find in all supermarket ?"

a friend of mine who works on a deluxe shoes shop told me that using a wrong polish can make some spot on the leather...

Personnaly, i was planning to use a common chocolate polish on my Alden...

Yeah, just regular show polish - I use KIWI brown polish.
